Having acquired two MMEs last year (Premium & GTPE), when I could still get the tax credits, I thought it was time to complete the stable with a Lightning.

I had a Rivian on order from mid-2022, but with their production delays and capital burn, I was reluctant to continue waiting for a truck that could easily be orphaned soon. So when my favorite, no-markup dealer called with a 2022 Lightning Lariat, I traded in my F150 diesel for the the electric truck.

How big is your array?
Trust it is set up to charge directly from it.
Guessing - one EV charging directly all times when the sun shines?

Iā€™m in the process of expanding my solar array to around 12-13 kW capacity. I have three Tesla Powerwall batteries to provide backup to the house.

But the Lightning has a 131 kWh battery pack thatā€™s the equivalent of almost 10 Powerwalls! Iā€™m considering installing the Ford Pro Wall Charger that came with the Lightning. That would give me 80 amps charging capacity and bi-directional power.

Currently, I charge the cars at night during off-peak hours and use the solar array to charge the Powerwalls, run the house, and contribute power to the EVs.

The Charge Station Pro wonā€™t operate bidirectionally without additional gear. Youā€™re probably aware of that, but I thought Iā€™d mention it so itā€™s clear to others who may not.
Correct; I called Sunrun and they're sending a technician for a site survey later this month.

Since I already have three Tesla Powerwall batteries and the associated gateway for home power backup, I don't think I'll spend the $9K or so required to install Ford's Intelligent Home Backup. However, if I had purchased the Lightning and didn't already have Powerwalls, I'd install Ford's system in a heartbeat!

The Lighting's extended battery pack stores as much power as nine or ten Tesla Powerwall batteries! So the Lightning will power your house in an emergency for a week. It's a great system.

I'll probably try and upgrade my garage sub-panel to 100 amps so that I can use the Ford Charge Station Pro to charge the Lightning at 80 amps. But even that is hardly necessary as I already have a Level 2 charger that delivers 40 amps to the truck.

I hope they succeed, but I think you made the right choice going for the Lightning over the Rivian.

Indeed! And the Lightning also has the greatest range of the three. It should, with a 131 kWh extended range battery pack!

Do you have multiple charge stations or are you constantly swapping which one is plugged in?
Not all cars get driven every day, so for now one 40-amp charger works fine. It has a long cord so I donā€™t have to move cars to charge them.

However, if I can get 100-amps to my detached garage, Iā€™ll probably install the Ford Charge Station Pro so that I charge the Lightning at its full 80-amp capacity.
