I have a 2022 MME GT built in early 2022. I live in rural Central NH where there are no MME's. I was tired of waiting for an OTA update so I called the closest dealer about 20 miles away. They said they can't do it because their wifi signal is too weak plus they are waiting for the cord set from Ford. I then called a much bigger dealership about 30 miles to the south. They said they have 2 certified EV mechanics but have only sold 2 MME's so mine will be the first for a software update. I made the appointment and had it done today.

When I got there I asked if they would let me watch how they do it. They escorted me into the shop. The 2 mechanics had not heard of the recall. They said they get so much info from Ford that they don't keep up on it all. I knew so much more about the MME than they did. Anyhow they plugged in the laptop and it updated a few modules successfully. It took about 30 or 40 minutes and seemed to go fine but I really don't know if it worked as the infotainment screen still shows the last update as being the powerup one. My Ford app still shows the recall as incomplete. I assume it will take time for the recall to be cleared?

I love this car but I'm definitely a Guinea Pig being that I live in an area with no fast chargers other than a few Tesla's and dealerships that have sold few EV's. So far with 4500 miles this car has worked perfectly. I feel better knowing if I had a HVBJB failure I could limp to a dealership. Is there any way to actually see if my car is now up to date and the recall has been completed?

I got the OTA version of this 2-3 weeks ago - it still showed the recall for a few days, then the recall no longer showed. A few days ago, Fordpass started showing the recall again.

Your screen will never show dealer-applied updates.

The recall will go away once the dealership files the paperwork to be paid for the work.

Did you lose your saved charging locations?

Ford Mustang Mach-E My experience with dealer updating the HVBJB software MME
Good job, thatā€™s how itā€™s supposed to go. Some people are told the update takes days.

The first dealer needs to figure their stuff out, not being to do updates because of poor WiFi is amateur hour. All of Fords new cars will have a need for software updates. No WiFi is like running a shop without a working lift.

The recall will disappear from FordPass in about a week after they submit the paperwork.

I updated mine via FDRS the day before @scoopman had his second HVBJB failure (he was still home and offered his rig to update mine). Recall notification persisted. I got a notification that 22S41 had been updated via OTA around the first week of August (likely just didnā€™t update since the OTA software probably saw I had the same versions and just marked as OTA updated). The alert went away several days later. The alert returned in FordPass a couple of weeks ago. I just got the notification that Priority Update 22-PU0707-SCH-POPB was updated via OTA and I no longer have the recall alert. I do have a banner saying to view the recall. šŸ¤”šŸ©

Thanks for the input. I just checked and it saved my charging schedule and home location. That was the only one I had.

Don't some bulletins call for the dealer to have their FDRS computer on ethernet, firewall disabled, etc. to ensure no hiccups?

Yes, but almost nobody does that. WiFi is fine as long as the signal is decent. An Ethernet cord isn't going to last long in a shop before it gets crushed or ripped out of the wall. Dealers should really have access points above the service bays, and Ford should be checking that dealers have good WiFi and internet in the service bays. They don't check so that's why customers have issues.

When I click on the recall alert, it takes me to a Ford site where it says recall incomplete. Previously it told me it was complete. Is this a SNAFU or will it try to run the upgrade again šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Had mine done at the dealer a few days ago. Recall notice gone after a day. Car didnā€™t charge when plugged in at default location first night after update. Deleted it and set up a new default and all works well.

Ford Mustang Mach-E My experience with dealer updating the HVBJB software MME
Hi,

I am in southern Maine and have similar experiences. My dealer only sold 2 MME and the techs are clearly not educated much about the car. They typically plug in the laptop, run the FDRS program and see if it completes without error. Although the wifi is excellent, the amount of time is very erratic.

I did get this OTA but the whole dark cloud of impending doom when the part fails really makes me nervous every time I drive. I refuse to use the car on any long trips since I don't want to be stranded somewhere far from home. It's a double whammy here in Maine. Very few chargers as in NH, lack of experienced dealers, and the whole guinea pig aspect of the car, in spite of 2 years of deliveries. I constantly consider trading it out.
