I have a 2022 MME GT built in early 2022. I live in rural Central NH where there are no MME's. I was tired of waiting for an OTA update so I called the closest dealer about 20 miles away. They said they can't do it because their wifi signal is too weak plus they are waiting for the cord set from Ford. I then called a much bigger dealership about 30 miles to the south. They said they have 2 certified EV mechanics but have only sold 2 MME's so mine will be the first for a software update. I made the appointment and had it done today.
When I got there I asked if they would let me watch how they do it. They escorted me into the shop. The 2 mechanics had not heard of the recall. They said they get so much info from Ford that they don't keep up on it all. I knew so much more about the MME than they did. Anyhow they plugged in the laptop and it updated a few modules successfully. It took about 30 or 40 minutes and seemed to go fine but I really don't know if it worked as the infotainment screen still shows the last update as being the powerup one. My Ford app still shows the recall as incomplete. I assume it will take time for the recall to be cleared?
I love this car but I'm definitely a Guinea Pig being that I live in an area with no fast chargers other than a few Tesla's and dealerships that have sold few EV's. So far with 4500 miles this car has worked perfectly. I feel better knowing if I had a HVBJB failure I could limp to a dealership. Is there any way to actually see if my car is now up to date and the recall has been completed?
