6 months and 16.5k miles and I realized if I was still driving my Super Duty then I would have burned 1000 gallons of diesel to travel the same distance. Last I looked, diesel fuel is a little over $3/gallon. If you include the oil/filter changes then it works out to an easy $3600 in 6 months or $600/month.

I continue to be amazed how cheap EVs are compared to ICE vehicles.

LOL you are comparing an EV SUV to a full sized truck? C'mon man. I love my Super Duty with the six speed manual, but you can't make that comparison.

I had to click on your profile to see where you're getting $3 gas. Inthe Bay it's like $4.50 lolol

If it were up to me I'd increases taxes 89 and 91 octaves every year until it was $10 a gallon or more in 2030. Anyone that's driving vehicles that take those types of gas can't use the "EVs are too expensive" excuse. Keep 87 lower for those that can't afford EVs until more affordable BEV options are available, so as not to punish those with lower incomes.

Diesel is too important for nationwide shipping to increase too much though.

I traded my Toyota Tundra in on this and convinced my wife I could make this my "work truck". I have - very happy. I was stoked about the $7,500 tax credit. At the end of three months, I calculated what I had spent on electricity vs what I would have spent on gas for the Tundra and it was (conservatively) $750 savings. So that is $3,000 per year. In addition to the $7,500 tax credit. AND I am undefeated at the traffic lights!

The lighting is tempting but it is not a first year model for us. We downsized for my wife as a suv is easier for her to get in and out of. Every time we start the truck now it is wow that stinks and is loud. Need it but the lighting is in the mix. 130,000 reservations for a first year model is a good start. Jack up those fuel prices lets see them squirm ;). Not going to get them to change for the good of it it needs to be cheaper, more torque and faster .......... check.

I am a net of $300 per month saved ($369 saved in gas, $60 paid in electricity) over my Ram ‘20 1500 4x4 I traded. so $900 over the last three months. I have no complaints. As Mr. Biden makes his progress to $5.00 gallon country average, it just gets better. Frankly, that is the primary reason why I went electric.

i have a lexus hybrid that even after 200k miles still gets 36+ mpg. Its really hard for me to want to drive it when the mach e costs less than half to operate.

I recently did some math on the lightning With the minimal data available (300 mile range, 150 kW, 2.0 M/kWh, $.09/ mile).

At my power cost, .17/kWh and mid grade at $3.31, it will get about 36 ICE equivalent MPG. The Mach E is 78 MPG ICE equivalent for me, 3.9 m/kWh average.

Unfortunately, you cannot make a brick more efficient, But you can make the running gear, which is what Ford did. I still question whether folks will see 2.0 m/kWh average. My money’s on less, but we will see.

Calling BS. Unlikely you ‘saved’ $3,600.

You might have used 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel that might have cost you $3,000 had you driven a Super Duty, but you didn’t ‘save’ the entire amount. You (someone) had energy cost for the ~4-5,000 kWhs.

And even if you had changed oil & filter every 3,000 miles in the SD, you want us to believe you are paying $120 per visit?

The savings of an EV vs ICE are real. No need to exaggerate.

6 months and 16.5k miles and I realized if I was still driving my Super Duty then I would have burned 1000 gallons of diesel to travel the same distance. So how about an ICE Mustang? If we assume 32 mpg highway and $3.00 per gallon, that's still 515 gallons of gas and over $1,500.
