Back story: we suffered a not at fault front end collision in early December. The vehicle was drivable and had no fault codes so we were able to drive it until our repair date.

The shop's been great however ford parts has not. We got all the parts front bumper cover, head light, grill insert and a few other odd's & ends

Missing Part: front radiator shutter assembly LK9Z8475B. According to the dealership this part is on indefinite backorder. I was told to possibly call ford my self to see if they will give me any information.

First call to ford: they hung up on me while I was looking up my vin
Second call to ford: They hung up on me when I asked to file a complaint because the person on the phone literally said there's no one to talk to and nothing you can do.

So question to everyone can I drive my car with no radiator shutters? is that going to mess up the heating/cooling. The shop hooked up the motor and have it zip tied out of the way so the car thinks it's all still there.

@Ford Motor Company - Can I drive the car like this or do I have to let it sit at the auto body shop for months while we wait for the shutter assembly?

Also, our backup camera keeps failing to calibrate - they didn't touch the backup camera.

I would drive it like that. Wouldn't worry me much.

Drive it.

Shutters for my Premium in December were immediately available.

Pretend you're driving a NASCAR race. Every pit stop have someone pick the debris out of there.

If anything itā€™ll just help the radiator work better.

I think you just figured out the first ā€œRam airā€ mod for the car! I actually kinda like how it looks.

The shutter is just there to increase aerodynamics when more cooling isnā€™t needed. Drive it until they have the part.

I've had bits of paper get stuck in there. No shutters mean easy cleanup. Plus, now he's got a great place for his Noco battery.

My premium had the bumper, shutters, passenger headlight, passenger fender, etc. all replaced. Almost every item was on ā€œindefinite back orderā€ when they placed the orders. Everything but the headlight came in with a week or two. My body shop also got a list of all dealers within 3 hours that might have stock. My headlight was so backordered they bought an open box one, put it in temporarily, then put the new one in later.

It looks like your driverā€™s headlamp is damaged as well. Iā€™d be more concerned about driving with a damaged headlamp than with opened shutters.
Also, someone needs to get the issue with your rear camera not calibrating sorted out. That sounds very odd. Havenā€™t heard that one yet.

I can see where you may think that but it's just a reflection, in fact the drivers headlamp has already been replaced.

Cool! If itā€™s only the shutters, then Iā€™d agree with everyone with the caveat to keep a close eye on what debris is flying into those openings. I would also be all over the dealer about the rear camera calibration. That is something they should correct or escalate.

Agree, My intention is to pick it up next week. The body shop will bring it to the dealer on Monday to do further diagnostics. I was concerned with possible thermal issues, the weather here in MD is currently cold and if the cooling system is under a constant flow it may not allow the batteries to get up to temp.

Thanks all for the replies.

The thread title is more than a little misleading.
