Dealer contacted me Wed night that my car had shown up, about a week early, picked it up, drove 300+ miles and now back at home For reference this is the first electric I've driven for more than 20 minutes, I'm coming from my 2007 Mustang GT and a Volco XC60.
First off, damn, after driving it, zero regrets about not getting the PE (it's been eating at me for months), probably some ignorance is bliss, but this has meet all my expectations and then some. Getting into the rainy season, but going to see if I can line up some performance lapping before they all close.
- Holy crap it is fast, like, I could get into trouble easily with my 2007 V8 (which was only a ~5 sec 0-60) but this is just a blast and I only had it in Engage mode the whole trip and all below 80% SoC. (Yes I'm well aware about all the stuff in other threads which I hope Ford does eventually clarify, but it is still just plain fun regardless)
- From a 70 ish mph cruise, no issues stomping it to pass, you'll be at 90 before you know it (again, this was in Engage and under 80% SoC, will have to test it out more in Unbridled, etc).
- Love these seats, the pseudo suede feels great, and at 5' 10 220+ I much prefer not having the contour of the PE seats.
- Suspension feels a little stiff I guess? not bad at all though but that's what I'm quite used to from my old GT and kinda prefer for this vehicle's purpose. It's no Volvo, but I imagine the magneride helps a lot there. I did not notice any real bounciness that's been mentioned on some other models.
- I actually kinda like the propulsion sound, after driving gas cars for 20+ years (most of that a manual transmission) I like having that audible feedback. ?‍
- The wheels have really grown on me, but I'm totally removing the aero covers once someone else sorts out the center cap.
- Tires are ok, fair amount of road noise on the highway, not bad around town, will likely switch to the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06+ when these get low (those were phenomenal on our old Focus).
- Charged up twice at Electrify America, worked pretty well actually, 46->80% in about 20 minutes. (but boo, since the car wasn't activated I didn't get my free credit yet).
Couple oddities though
- Still can't activate the car, initially thought it was due to low reception at the dealer but tried a few times since and no go. Maybe a sync reset and go again?
- Ugh Android Auto is going to take some getting used to, could not for the life of me figure out how to play the music I had copied from my PC to my phone.
Shout out to Awesome Ford (yes really) in Chehalis, saved some sales tax heading down there (X-Plan too), they were great and this was only the 3rd Mach E they've sold.
