Some post-trip recaps on Marlin. I'll update with information on return trip charging soon.

The Analytics Token and USB ports:
Ford's South Florida regional team got me set up with a S. Florida Field Service Engineer (FSE) who met me at Tamiami Ford in Naples and got the advanced analytics token installed and working again. Unfortunately, something in that installation session seems to have done a number on my front USB ports. The USB-A and USB-C ports under the Center Screen are reporting errors and will not power devices. The wireless charging pad is still working (when the phone stays in the right place) and the two power-only USBs (A &C) behind the armrest/console are still working. Good news is I was able to report this issue via the advanced analytics package.

Since returning home I've been in touch with my DC-area FSE and we've tested doing a Sync 4A soft reset and a full master reset. Unfortunately, neither of those solved this problem. There may have been some incompatibility between the hardware used to reinstall the token and the Mach E USB hub. It looks like they will order a new USB hub to install when I take Marlin in for the BCM issue (Fob/PaaK below).

Fob/PaaK Operation:
I was and still am using PaaK exclusively. I did take the fob with me to FL (double-wrapped in a pair of Faraday bags EZ-Pass devices came in). I think sometimes the fob was detected, causing irregular behavior. It did better when I left it in the condo and now that we are home and the fob is in the house far from Marlin.

Now that I am home from my trip and have diagnosed the issue more carefully, I have the same problem with the front passenger door. Using either the fob or my phone (with FordPass open), I get the same results. I can approach either door on the driver’s side, the lift gate, or the rear passenger door, press the button and that door opens. However, if I approach the front passenger door with fob or phone and press the open button, it does not open the door and the circle inside the button doesn’t light up — however, I do hear some sounds in the door. If I press any other door button, Marlin wakes up, the door opener buttons light up, the doors unlock, and the front passenger door button works fine. If I wave my foot under the lift gate, Marlin wakes up and the door button lights all come on but the passenger door still won’t open until another door button has been pressed.

The DC area FSE thinks this may be part of the SSM 49676 issue
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-door-activation-switch-not-lighting-up.4576/
They believe the solution will be to reprogram the Body Control Module (BCM).

ICC/Speed Detection:
The camera often picked up slower speeds on ramps, local lanes, or frontage roads. At first it was a real shock when we started rapidly slowing from 79 to 49 upon the camera seeing a 45 sign. We got used to being ready for this at ramps and along local lanes. The issue seems to occur when the lane sign is on the left of the local lane between the local lane and my lane. Also had one incident on FL State Road 84 where it saw and 84 sign and suddenly accelerated! That only happened once.

Mach E4X insignia:
Like some other folks, the glue isn’t holding well. My driver’s side insignia is fine so far but the black line underneath is not attached. I’ve been very careful when hand washing and drying. Koons has ordered a new one.

Body Repairs:
Just dropped Marlin off at Maryland Collision Center (the shop Koons Ford works with closely). As of late last week they already had received all the parts except the new front battery vent louvres and those were supposed to have been shipped already. Fingers crossed there won't be any delays due to other parts availabilities.
Thanks for the summaries. I've enjoyed reading about your travels, encounters, and tribulations here.
The only thing I can offer is regarding the E4X badge on the sides of the car - mine, too, are already peeling. I've fixed it (the line underneath) by carefully peeling it back, removing the tiny dab of double-sided tape there, and putting a new piece of 3M double-sided foam tape in its place. That seems to be holding fine now.

One word on body work for the Mach E - EXPENSIVE!

First estimate from Maryland Collision Center: $8760, approved by Allstate and work is underway. Full new front end bumper and air dam pieces, new left louvres, new left headlight (mounting clip broken inside), repainted wheel lip, front door, and side moldings. Hope to have Marlin back by the end of next week.

At least it seems the logistics and supply chain for parts is efficient. This is one of the big issues with repairing a Tesla, waiting for the parts.

Also posted in a new thread about Paak requiring cell service:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/paak-seems-to-require-cellular-service.4231/

Lots of folks on the Forum are indicating that PaaK isn’t ready for prime time. While many folks have indicated they were giving up on it. I’ve gone all-in on Paak and normally leave my fob at home. For this trip to Florida I brought the fob but carried it in the glove compartment wrapped in two faraday bags so Marlin wouldn’t “see” it. Once we got here to Marco I left it in the condo in a suitcase. That means when the 5 March Everglades incidents cropped up, I had no fob to fall back on. It’s now back in the glove box due to the Everglades Incidents below.

General issues:
Sometimes Marlin sees the phone, sometimes he doesn’t. My iPhone 12Pro may be working better for recognition to unlock than my wife’s iPhone 7. However, that may just be because I'm driving most of the time. Unlocking the driver’s door is the most reliable, lift gate second, passenger door the least. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if PaaK is working on the passenger door at all. Often we’ll have to wake up the phone and start or activate the app to get it to work. Sometimes we have to press unlock on the app. Sometimes we have to resort to the key pad to open the car. The phone really needs to be sitting on the charging pad to start the car. Starting almost never works with the phone in a back pocket. Walk-away lock has become unreliable, too. It often works great — probably most of the time. Sometimes it doesn’t. That’s not reliable for locking a vehicle in a city.

The Everglades Incidents:
PaaK failed miserably and consistently when there was no cell coverage. Many parts of the Everglades have absolutely no cell signal. This is true of many big National Parks. First, PaaK wouldn’t work at all at the Shark Valley Visitor Center. It would neither open the doors, nor start the car, even if the phone was connected to the USB. The app would not start on the phone since it couldn’t connect to the mothership (won't get past the first Ford splash screen). We had to use the door and start backup codes. Once in Miami for the charge at the Miami International Mall PaaK was working fine. Then we entered the Park through the main entrance. Once a short distance past the Visitor Center, we had no cell signal again. The rest of the day in Everglades National Park, PaaK would not open doors or start the car. Every hike, every boardwalk, etc., we had to use the door and start codes. If I left Marlin on and got out to the pictures, the security system would require a key to put the car into drive. Since the PaaK wasn’t working, that meant waiting for a minute for the passcode prompt to appear and then entering the start code again -- every, single time.

If you're going to be out of cell phone coverage, I recommend you have your fob with you as a backup.
I often have these issues even when I do have cell coverage. Thank you for the really detailed and helpful report.

Did you notice whether the app shows if the charge session faulted out? If we do decide not to babysit the car during a session, and go into a store or restaurant, it would be good to be able to tell remotely if the session prematurely terminated so we can run back outside to restart it.
I get a notification from the ForfPass app on my phone if the charger malfunctions.

Absolutely! My final cost for my front end repair was $6,500! The initial estimate was only $1800 for what looked like a minor impact, but once taken apart there was more damage inside which jacked things up. Including $1000 for the blind spot computer and a whopping $1700 for the left headlight which cracked where it attaches to the body (it looked fine on the outside.) Heck even the pony on the front was over $100. Definitely not cheap.

Hope yours is returned good as new!

Makes me want to take the light coverage addition in Ford's ESP if I purchase one.

I believe that’s for lights that burn out. Not collision damage.
I know that but what if your headlight burned out and you had to replace it? The cost would be enormous. I don't know how expensive LED bulbs are compared to incandescent ones. Bulbs aren't covered under Premium policy you have to take extra coverage just like extra coverage for key FOB damage or replacement.

Oh about 3-4 months ;)

Really it won't say 270 with all the cold weather. Around late April/May you'll likely start seeing 270.

By June/July/August I bet you even see close to 300.

Edit: Ok you're in California (N or S?) so reduce all of the above by a good month LOL. (You'll see the range go up when the weather is warm enough that you don't need to turn on the heater.)
Its now April 10; I'm in Eastern NC and temps into the 70s and 80s. Charged last night to 95%; this morning it showed 268.

Haven't updated in a while as Marlin is still at Maryland Collision Center. I had them order parts before I took Marlin in but that didn't do any good. As they got into the job they found more parts and we had to wait for them to find them. Finally they had everything that needed painting and did so. However, when they went to assemble the front end they found other parts they needed. I guess there aren't very good guides to what is up there in the service manual. Now one of the pieces they're waiting on is a mounting bezel for a front sensor. They didn't know they had to order it separately. Sigh.

Just heard from folks at Ford who are trying to "expedite" my repair parts. Three parts to go: a "front grille piece" (whatever that is), a sensor bezel, and a side molding. One is due to arrive Monday, the other two have no ETA. Sigh.

If they get the other two in before the side molding I'm going to ask them to take it on over to Koons for the alignment. They don't need the side molding for that.

Really getting tired of waiting for parts.

Took him in for an estimate late March so they could pre-order parts. Parts were supposed to all be in April 5 and took him in that day. Looks like we'll reach 4 weeks when the next part arrives. No idea on the other two.

Good news: Just heard from my FSE Tyler and it looks like all the parts are on their way. He's very hopeful I'll have Marlin back before the weekend, including putting in the new USB hub as long as he's at Koons for the alignment. Hopefully they have the little odds and ends they ordered, too.

He's VERY optimistic I'll have him back for the two Mustang events on 15-16 May!

Glad you are getting your parts and having Marlin back soon. I took my Mach E to Florida from Arizona and got a windshield chip which has turned into a 14 inch crack. Geico is covering it 100%, cost with recalibration is $1400, yet there are no windshields to be had. So I have been waiting over a month for one to come in. Parts are few and far between.

Unfortunately, our trip and Marlin's good looks were marred by an incident on I-20 in South Carolina. We didn't see the original semi shed its retread but we did see the U-Haul truck sling what looked like an entire retread into the air in front of us. June swerved, but not far enough and Marlin took a retread to the face. I'm expecting it will be a few thousand dollars in body work, including all the front end nose pieces and at least the left-side vents (right-sed vents still working). The front bumper sensor on the left side was lost, too.

Grabber Blue (actually Electric Blue) Duck Tape to the rescue. Lateral. front sensor (right in front of the front tire) was taped back in place, too.
IMG_8074.jpeg

While a few automated functions are not working (parking aid, for example), Lane Centering and Adaptive/Intelligent Cruise Control worked fine for the trip home. Duck Tape is still holding, too.

We're working with Allstate now.

On the bright side, I should be able to end up with a front end that doesn't have the license plate holder.
Very sorry.
