mylar PPF?

Has anyone heard of a mylar PPF? How is this different from PPF made from thermoplastic urethane? When I first got my MME, I got a PPF installed. It's recently been in for repairs (body work after being knocked down a hill in snow & ice), and the repair shop has twice referred to the "mylar" when I asked about PPF. Am I getting the same protection as I had before, or is this shop installing something different? When Googling, I'm not seeing anything that leads me to believe that mylar and PPF are the same. How concerned should I be?

A lot of people refer to any clear plastic sheet as “Mylar.” Get the body shop to clarify which specific PPF (brand and model) they are going to use. Or better yet, get them to use the shop you originally used to install your PPF so that the exact same PPF and procedures are used.
