I picked up a new to me grabber blue GTPE with the night pony package. I been searching for about a month for an ev to commute to work, around town etc since my F-150 is getting up there in miles, and I need a truck still to do truck stuff and pull our boat. I wanted something comfortable, fun to drive and that would fit into parking garages in DC, which is a constant struggle with my truck. I test drove lots of evs through car rentals for work, and at dealers. I looked at the Chevy line up and Volvo/Polestars as top contenders to the MME. All would have worked, I’ve always been a Ford guy, grew up in Detroit and my father is a Ford retiree. I’ve owned regular GT and the GTPE from day one has been something I always wanted. The next debate was used or new. Things car will be racking up 15-20k miles a year so I wanted to look at the entire picture of depreciation and extended warranty. Priced out a new one at $51 before TTL with all the options I wanted, used were in the 30s. Enter in two weeks ago I found a used GTPE in my favorite color with note pony. It was a gold cert CPO which helped lower the premium care warranty by about 1/2 from a non CPO. After back and forth I was able to get this for out the door at $30k, spent $2400 for a 9 year 150k premium care warranty (Grainger Ford). Had to fly to SC to pick it up, was a little nervous sore unseen other than videos but when I got there I was relieved car was immaculate, looked brand new. I did a ton of research on its service history and had 0 warranty work in its life, just regular service every 5-10k miles for tire rotations and I think 2 software updates before it was sold. Drove over 400 miles home, car did awesome no issues using the Tesla network and no concerns with range. Averaged 2.8-3 all the way back on the freeway doing 65-75 with limited HVAC. I will say I am absolutely happy with my choice. Rides great, fast and sporty when I want it. Looking forward to being a part of this community and driving it.
