From what I have read it's only for the European market also. Toyota is really coming to a cross road and I Don't get what they are doing.

Toyota still hasn't denounced their position with the administration against the CA clean vehicle standard, either.

There is a big Toyota plant here in Georgetown ky. It's Toyota's biggest plant in the world. They have been shut down weeks for sales down and for covid. Things are not good there right now.
Sad because Toyota makes great cars but no one is buying cars these days.

Ya I saw that euro comment in the article. I just figured it was a matter of time before Toyota saw the writing on the wall. Maybe this is the start—especially if/when Ford has a hit on their hands.

Will be the twin of the Suburu Evoltis (did not make that name up). Basically a C segment CUV, the most popular body style in the world. Similar in size to the RAV4 or Crosstrek, it should go directly against the VW ID4 and the Nissan Ariya. I think the Evoltis is due in 2022.

I think Toyota was waiting on solid state batteries. I don't think we'll see that chemistry but I have no idea what cells are being used or which manufacturer they are coming from.

Too late for me. After years of loyalty, I think i’m done with them. They used to be second to none in my book, but the TNGA Camry disappointed. And they were too late to BEV’s.

They'll never sell a BEV in Hawaii. Why, you might ask?

About 5 years ago Toyota USA answered an email I had sent complaining about a Toyota dealer here. They said, "We only sell vehicles in the United States, not Hawaii." Yes, really.

So their BEV efforts are meaningless to those of us in the 50th state. Someone should tell them about all the counterfeit Toyotas here though.
