European leaders are making it quite clear that it is as important as ever to address climate change during recovery from Covid-19:

“It will be all the more important that if we set up economic stimulus programmes, we must always keep a close eye on climate protection,” Merkel said, adding the focus should be laid on supporting modern technologies and renewable energies.

U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres told the conference there could be an opportunity for the world in the “dark times” of the coronavirus crisis.

“The restart can lead to a healthier and more resilient world for everyone,” he said.

Of course, they ignore that the recession will actually make that harder, not easier.

Less money available by consumers and governments means slower vehicle replacements, tougher priority choices regarding taxpayer subsidies, and other such changes that take $$$.

If you'll be over age 59 1/2 at the time, you can take a substantial withdrawal from a tax-deferred retirement account (IRA, 401(k), etc) in the same year as the MME purchase (assuming you have one). You'll have to estimate how much income you'll need to produce a $7500 federal income tax liability. If your normal income for that year is, say, $20,000 short, then take a $20k IRA withdrawal.

Not only will it enable you to take full advantage of the $7500 tax credit now, it avoids the tax liability that you would have incurred withdrawing it in future years.
Agreed, there are mechanisms to deal with this. If delivery is delayed until 2021 I'll have to strategize to make sure I can get the $7500. It just won't be as easy as it is now while I have my full income.
