Odd Charging Behavior

I have had my car for 3 months now. I have the charging schedule set to 10pm-8am every day and max charge at 90%. Up until last night it has worked exactly as expected. I plug the car in when I park in the garage and it waits until 10 then charges to 90%. Last night for some reason it decided to wait until 4:50am to start charging?!?!? ? ? It charged to 90% then stopped as it should. I'll find out in a few hours if this was a one-off or if the car now has a mind of its own.

My car would do that when FP or the car updated some software. Did you get an OTA? Charging will pause for the update to download and install.

Does your FordPass notify you when it self updates? I don't think mine does.....not that I have noticed anyway. ??

I did both of the 3.33.0 FordPass updates. Doesn't seem like that would be it. I checked the schedule in the car and it was still as I had set it.

So last night was not a one time occurrence. Checked the app at 10:15 tonight and it still said Waiting to Charge. Tried to check the schedule in the app but it won't display the current schedule. Got the 'this is the last info before your car went to sleep' banner on the Vehicle page. Tried locking and unlocking via the app with no change. Started it with the app and it began charging. ?? What have you done this time @Ford Motor Company ??

Sounds like the same scenario I experienced this past summer. On night 3 it returned to normal.
Night 1......car did not charge.
Night 2......car did not start charging on time so I had to wake it up and then it charged fine.
Night 3....all back to normal.

I went through this twice.....both times immediately after a FP update pushed to my phone.

Night 1......car did not charge.
Night 2......car did not start charging on time so I had to wake it up and then it charged fine.
Night 3....all back to normal.

Did the charging schedule display correctly in the car when you were having the issues? Makes me wonder if there is some server involvement in this. ??

At least your charging started as you expected. With my GTPE, it just starts charging when it wants, citing the departure time. The DT is not set at all (I work from home) and the only things that are set are: the block of time we wish it to charge and no more than 80%. Yet, it races to get to 80% right now. Unfortunately we are still using the 120V~ option to charge as we are waiting to put in another NEMA 14-50 plug when we upgrade our solar system.

At least your charging started as you expected. With my GTPE, it just starts charging when it wants, citing the departure time. The DT is not set at all (I work from home) and the only things that are set are: the block of time we wish it to charge and no more than 80%. Yet, it races to get to 80% right now. Unfortunately we are still using the 120V~ option to charge as we are waiting to put in another NEMA 14-50 plug when we upgrade our solar system.

The 120V charging may be your problem. If the car calculates that it can't get to 80% during your scheduled charging hours it will start as soon as you plug it in.

Thanks. I wonder if that just means my car is not in the queue yet, or something else? ? ?
I have been in contact with @Ford Motor Company through DM so hopefully I'll get some answers.
All of the other little bugs/glitches I have experienced have been inconsequential, but if I can't count on the car to be charged when I need to use it that's a big deal.

Yes. Showed correctly in the car and in FordPass but still was weird for a couple days. We never really figured it out. Only clue is that both instances coincided with a FordPass update so I sorta think that was related. ???

The difference with your issue is that your car paused its charge and then resumed where my car just didn't charge at all overnight.

If only our cars could talk......

No, it didn't pause and resume. The first night it just waited until 4:50 am to start. Second night it didn't start on time so I prodded it into action. Then it completed normally.
I got a call from a Ford CSR. They want me to take it to the dealer. I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens.
