Just edited my original response. I didn't state it clearly. I "took over" an order from someone who walked away from theirs. As part of that, I had to put down a $1k deposit and agree to $10k ADM. I have a month to keep looking for another MME (been calling up and down West coast for a month + now with no luck finding inventory or without ADM) and walk away from this and get my $1k deposit back. But if I don't find one, this one hits all the marks for what I would order (MME Premium AWD / ER Battery / glass roof) that I'll probably still go through with it even with ADM since 2023 orders will likely not get tax credit and be (estimated) $5k more anyways, I'll still technically squeak out saving a little. We'll see though.
It's possible to get a new vehicle shipped around the country for several hundred dollars. If it comes down to it, and you are OK purchasing sight unseen (or perhaps flying out), you should expand your online search further out.

Last time I bought a car and had it shipped (2016), it was about $1/mile.

Dealership arranged it and it showed up near my door step in 2 days.

'aside from the final assembly requirement'
Final assembly is still Mexico, right? So for deliveries for the remainder of the year we won't qualify.

As long as final assembly is in North America (which Mexico is) the Mach-e will still qualify under the current 2022 guidelines.

This was my understanding as well. Final assembly must be in USA or any country with a free trade agreement with USA, such as Mexico.

Umm I believe final assembly is in North America BUT does NOT include any country with a free trade agreement with the USA.

Paying a dealer 10k ADM, on a Mustang, wtf is wrong with you people? You are exactly the reason ADMs exist.

I have a probably stupid question but want to make sure I understand the eligibility for the $7,500 tax incentive.

This is a credit which you get if you owe the IRS at least that much right?

Let’s assume my taxes at the end of the year are $15k.
With every paycheck, I’m already paying something towards these taxes, let’s say $1k monthly for argument sake.

In February next year, I would only owe the IRS $3k as I’ll have already paid $12k during 2022.

Does that mean I would only get these $3k covered by the incentive?
Or would I get the full $7.5k, and get a refund of $4.5k for what I “prepaid”?

Again, sure it’s obvious to most but would love confirmation.

Thanks!

You get the full $7500.

What you withhold throughout the year doesn’t matter one bit.

All that matters in your example is the taxes owed for the year of “more than $7500.”

Much appreciated, thank you!
Now on to the impossible task of finding a Premium, or at GT without a markup… 🥵

Remember if you don’t pay 90% of your taxes throughout the year you’ll get hit with penalties though.
