OK, it's gorgeous: Mercedes EQS

I had the opportunity to sit in one of these beauties last night at a neighboring EA charger. There's a test drive event this weekend at the King of Prussia Mall (PA) and another next Thursday-Saturday at the Tysons Corner Mall (VA near DC). I won't lie. I think I'd trade my Mach E for one. Of course, most folks would since it's twice the price!

Only about 20 of these in the US at this point and I saw most of them.

Initial thought, it’s just a sedan. Then I saw that trunk pic. Wow. So much room. Looks like it was engineered by Mary Poppin’s handbag designer.

The interior is really nice in the EQS, it’s everything that surrounds the interior that I don’t like. Well, almost everything. When you side by side the EQS variants with a Lucid Air it’s like Lucid is playing in another, elevated league.

But, I’d take an AMG EQS if it were gifted ?

Interior looks amazing.

Exterior though? Meh. May be the ugliest Mercedes in the lineup. Definitely getting a “Honda Accord” vibe.

I also am not over the moon about the exterior, and the piano black on the interior especially the steering wheel would get old. But the underlying EV hardware itself seems so good.



I thought Kyle had a review on it on OOS, but maybe it was just this one. I like when he gets excited for some of these EVs.

I still think the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo would be my choice if I was reaching into that price point. Underrated range, great performance and charging curve, and so much room for activities.

If I were considering that price range and not in a rush I would also look at the Lucid Air. Looks pretty impressive feature and styling-wise.

I think I saw 350 EPA miles for the 450 and 440+ for the 580 in a review. That 440 mile number may have been the Euro WLTP test cycle though. Edmunds got a new record in their 60/40 hwy/city mix testing of the 450+:

After getting on board with my Mach E, I actually seriously thought of buying this vehicle. I even got on the email list a few months ago. Deal breaker for me was no frunk. Also I don’t care for all those computer screens in the front. Decided to keep Mach E for awhile though, as I still really like it —despite any issues others say it has.

Whoa, that is some serious image distorion in the first image. At first, I was thinking they had chosen some crazy asymmetric steering wheel. Interior looks very nice. I'll withhold exterior judgement until I see one in person, but agree that the front looks very Honda and the profile looks very Model 3.
