Old habits are hard to break even if they are impossible to continue.

I was checking out at the grocery store and I briefly lamented the fact that I could no longer use the earned fuel points to save 5 to 20 cents on a gallon of gasoline.

It's like kicking off a muddy pair of boots....
Ask for a food purchase discount instead of gasoline. Food is human fuel.

Went to a gas station to buy gas for a leaf blower. Someone came up To me and said they never thought they would see a Mach E at a gas station. I told him it was the first time in three months and I don’t plan on coming back until it starts to snow. He then said sweet ride and plans to get one next year.
Get an electric leaf blower next year.

Food is already baked into the program. ? ? ?

I wrote to the chain's HQ about allowing EV drivers to donate fuel discounts to charities that do a lot of driving, like Meals on Wheels.

No reply.

Interesting marketing trick.

Instead of charging less for off peak hours, tell people it’s “free” and charge them more during the day.

Of course none is really free since all the electricity is getting paid for by the users.

Would be interesting to see what the effect of the “free time” is.

I would bet people actually waste/use more electricity. Like run their a/c cooler or heat hotter at night than they normally would. Not care about turning off lights at night, etc.

But definitely a good time to charge your BEV for sure.
If it is like how it was when I lived in the area it is not totally free but it is sure as hell a lot cheaper. You still have to pay transmission rates as power company have no control over that cost but still not having to pay for the generating part of the power makes it great. Where I live now I can get variable rate based on time and day and I have thought about it now with my Mach E as I can shift the charging time to super off peak which puts the rate a lot lower.

Really though plans are only great if you have a way to shift your heavy power usage to off peak hours. Namely an Electric car is a great one. I sure as hell would look at jumping on one of those plans if they were available to me.

Time for an electric leaf blower or do what we do and use a rake and a tarp.

Our electricity is supplied by a coop. They try and keep prices as low as possible so no variable rates or rebates for purchasing charging equipment. We do get a small cash return from the profits.
