I'm a newbie to this site and I hope someone can help me understand Mach E ordering, specifically how order numbers work. I ordered a Premium (Extended Range, Black, Space Gray Interior) on 8 July. My Order # is 10104024. I understand that about 50,000 units are to be produced for the 2021 model year; First Edition & Premium models are to be delivered first; Select models are to start delivery in 2021; and Orders for the GT are not yet being accepted. Is there any way to understand how an Order # of 10104024 fits into this whole scheme? Does it mean that my order will be included in the 2nd lot of 50,000, probably in 2022. If that is the case i'm not sure I want to wait over a year to get one. I would appreciate anyone who has an understanding of how this works to clear this up for me.

Thanks

The order numbers are roughly ascending but not consecutive. So while 50k MME's are expected in the 2021 model year (starting with deliveries later this year), we don't really know where 10104024 fits into that 50,000.

Also, Ford originally said Select and CA Route 1 were starting delivery later than 1st and Premium, but then they later revised so it looks like they all start arriving later this year. Based on order confirmation cut-off dates, it seems the First Editions will be sequenced into production first... But Premium, Select, and CA Route 1 seem to be right after that.

GT is delayed to late summer 2021, so I would hazard to guess that your order will be delivered before then.

As far as we can tell, orders that had reservations first (starting in Nov) all had 100xxxxx format numbers. Nobody but Ford really knows, but some of us are guessing there were around 40k-45k of those. Figure maybe 35k-40k converted (or will convert) to orders.

The numbers with 101, 102, 103 etc appear to have been placed after reservations ended and straight-to-order started about a month ago. Presumably the orders that started with reservations will go out first (the point of having an advanced reservation). I would guess you're still in line for a 2021, but probably after 40,000th. I'd guess around summertime for that.

But of course this is all just guesstimates based on little clues we've been getting.

Reservations made before the ordering system went on line went up to the 80,000 range (108xxxx). However, we don't know how many reservations were actually made or how many of these have been converted to orders.

BTW, I don't think Ford has said anything about how many 2022's will be made. The 50,000 for the 2021 model year was a limitation on how many battery packs they could secure at the time.

I don't think that means 80,000 vehicles though. The numbers we saw reported seemed somewhat consistent from 4000 to around 35,000, but then there seemed to be some wide gaps, and even some jumping around. At least from what posters here and the other place were reporting.

(P.S. You have a typo there. Should be 10080000.)

I'm sure it doesn't mean 80,000 reservations, much less orders. From what we've heard through various posts I'd guess no more than 40,000 reservations.

Yep, that's what I was saying too (I said 40k-45k, but yeah, could even be under 40k). Probably somewhere in that 40k neighborhood, with some that won't become orders. Then the new direct-to-orders (101xxxxx+) add to that.

Wow nivlem, I'm order number #10104025. I ordered right after you! Sadly I do not anticipate getting the car until spring next year at the earliest which is too late for us with a car coming off lease in October. Might have to cancel my deposit if there is no update by the end of August. Maybe I'll get a GT in two years instead!

No typo. My order # is, in fact, 10104024. I don't understand, but that is my number

wow - two identical order numbers? earliest would be spring 2021 if it was ordered in July. VW ID4 is supposed to be available late 2020 - but no details yet

Where they able to secure more batteries if they had reservations for it? We don't know that and actually the MME is offered on all Ford sites where ever they sale it around the world, so if they have the chance to sell more they will do even if it means delivery in 2022 IMO.

I ordered July 9 with an order number of 10110012

Looks like they took in many orders in one day.

No, not a typo by you. By ChasingCoral. He left a zero out of the 10080000.

Make and sell new 2021's in 2022? I doubt it. I fully expect they'll finish production of the 2021MY late next summer (like normal) and start making 2022MY at that point. With whatever amount of batteries they can secure.
