I am in the same boat, no updates and unable to toggle schedule/automatic updates since failed 1.7.1 update in mid December. I had the 21P22 update performed at a dealership after the failed update but still can't schedule updates. Not sure if any change since yesterday's outage, I'll check tonight.

What am I supposed to tell people that ask if I am happy with my Mach-E, when right now I am not? And this is truly sad, because the car is perfect for me. But the software is a mess.....
Yes, unfortunately, this is exactly what I have to tell people: "The car is great. The software is a mess." I really wish I could move past that and just proudly exclaim "It's awesome!" but we're not there yet... and I don't know when we might be as my car is in such a state that it won't even attempt updates.

I haven’t received a successful OTA since buying the car in August. After yesterday’s outage, I now see this bug fix update as successful in FordPass. So something seems to be clicking now

The problem with your argument IMHO, is that this car is basically a computer on wheels. And as such, if there are factory software updates available, they should be available either by OTA or at the dealerships. Some cars seem to be corrected by the 21P22 FSA. Some don't. Mine was obviously not one of those that was corrected. So yes, software updates are a big deal. And since we really don't know what is being updated, how do I know if it is important or not? On my receipt from the dealership, it says the 21P22 was installed but the ABS module did not clear from the software update list. Should I be worried that the ABS system is not functioning properly? When I asked the tech about it, he just said I don't know. Not very reassuring.....

And without information from Ford when these things will be corrected, it is not a good experience.

So overall, Ford has some work to do. Again, just my humble opinion.

Jim
Jim, I totally agree with you; updates ARE a big deal. My dealer didn't correct the startup update 1.7.1 (and I was told by Ford they couldn't do it so I wasn't surprised). I have a good Wi-Fi connection in my garage so I know that's not the problem. And I have contacted Ford through this site but unfortunately, nothing has happened to help me or correct the problem. I'm trying to be patient like everyone else affected by this and really hope the "fix" comes soon! Just my opinion too. Mike

So I got impatient and took the car to the dealership monday, just got a call that the car will simply not accept updates and they have to escalate it to ford's engineering team so they need to hang onto it for a third day (assuming they get a response back). Sounds like if you don't have your OTA, there may actually be an issue with some of the cars preventing them from updating.
I had the same issue, I showed them the tsb for sync concerns and they upgraded. Now the cor does receive updates. It was recently updated to 2.1.0 OTA

Okay, right thread this time.

There is a fix coming hopefully very shortly for those that are stuck in the 1.7.1 update. Information will be shared as soon as it is available to share

I’m at the dealer with a dc charging issue at this moment. They are get
E a rental car (again). I don’t believe the software update was even done last time. It’s frustrating.

Oh, I forgot - a very important and related thing I tell people that softens the blow - especially when they're comparing to a Tesla where the inverse is true: (software is great but the car not as good, IMO) - is that "the software will be improved, but the hardware is basically set". Which I do still believe will eventually be true.

I hope it’s a OTA fix.
Also will this same fix be for the f150’s as well I would assume ?
Thanks

I truly hope you are correct.

I may be sounding very negative lately, but as I said before, I really like this vehicle!

But Ford HAS to hold up their end of the deal we struck when I purchased my MME. And a large part of the deal to me was the promise of regular and automatic OTA software updates to my vehicle. I understood this was a brand new vehicle and as a programmer for over 40 years, I knew there would be software bugs to be corrected. But I was not really worried as I was told they could be corrected via OTA updates. So far, that has been truly lacking.....

Thanks for your input and I, along with what I assume is everyone else in this situation, look forward to the fix to be applied to our MME's.

One final thought: If this has to be an update applied by the dealerships, please make sure they are fully trained and have all the correct equipment on site before we go in for this update. The last time I went to the dealership at the request of the Ford EV support team for what I was told would be a two day process, my MME was there for thirteen days. That was completely unacceptable, especially because when I got it back, the software updates I requested were not all completed.

Well after the Ford Pass issue was resolved, I was able to set the Day/Time to schedule an update. I was very hopeful that I would see an update this morning. No luck. I am back to the situation where I cannot set my Time/Day to update. Has anybody actually had this problem and got it resolved. I see post where the Ford Dealers are struggling to find and fix it.

Hello! Send us a private message with your MachE’s VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!
Not sure how to do a private message. Is by doing a reply the correct method.

Thanks

Just so you know 21P22 doesn't address the 1.7.1 update failure. It does update other modules but not the APIM. Your service advisor may believe 21P22 also updates the APIM, which is incorrect.

My dealer is good and my service tech assumed 21P22 addresses the APIM failure. In my case the only way to get around the 1.7.1 failure was to replace the APIM. Everything works as it should and I just got the 2.1.0 update.

I’ll wait for the update fix. I don’t want my dash torn apart for a apim. Also they are on back order for a while.
plua everything is working fine anyway so no rush for me.
