My car is stuck in 1.6 with a failed 1.7 update since early November.
I can’t even remote start my car anymore since a couple days.
I had the SW calibration update done and saw no improvements.

I am at a loss to what I’m supposed to do…

i even bought a satellite for my wifi ap and my car connects in 2.4ghz at 1 mbps…wtf

Read through this thread. Many of us are in the same situation and are waiting for a "fix" from Ford which is supposed to come soon.

The 21P22 Software Calibration does not address the OTA issue with Sync4. I had the 21P22 done in Dec and specifically asked for TSB 21-2310 (Various Snyc4 Issues) to be done as well but they only did 21P22. A number of modules were updated with 21P22 but the APIM module was not updated (even though there was an update available in FDRS).

I have it at the dealer now for TSB 21-2310 and any other modules that need updating (e.g., the GSM, which is not covered in 21P22 and was not updated last time). I'll post later how it goes...

I’ll wait for the update fix. I don’t want my dash torn apart for a apim. Also they are on back order for a while.
plua everything is working fine anyway so no rush for me.
From what I was told it's just one panel under the APIM to replace the APIM. I guess it depends on the dealer and how good they are. My dealer is pretty good so letting them tear in to my dash was OK.

Overall it was worth doing so to finally get out of the 1.7.1 jail!

i did (a few weeks ago), y’all opened a ticket then gave me a call to tell me you can’t help me and that I had to go to a dealer. We all know the dealers can’t help.

im sure it’ll come “soon” like the frunk button opening and blue cruise.

I honestly doubt they’ll be able to patch my car remotely if tic tac toe can’t get installed.

Just so you know 21P22 doesn't address the 1.7.1 update failure. It does update other modules but not the APIM. Your service advisor may believe 21P22 also updates the APIM, which is incorrect.

My dealer is good and my service tech assumed 21P22 addresses the APIM failure. In my case the only way to get around the 1.7.1 failure was to replace the APIM. Everything works as it should and I just got the 2.1.0 update.
What exactly is the apim?

I have a f150 I just follow this as it has a lot of good info for sync4. A lot more stuff has to come apart for the truck so no thanks.

PowerUp 1.7.1 has been stuck for a couple of months for me. I took the car to the dealer about a month ago to get the 21P22 Software Calibration and asked for TSB 21-2310 for the APIM update but they only did the calibration. I took it to the dealer again today to see if they could update the APIM module under TSB 21-2310 and potentially fix the OTA issue.

I went into the shop to talk to the tech and he showed me the modules FDRS said needed updating on his computer (photo below). The only module that was reported updated with 21P22 but still needed updating today was ABS. The others, APIM, IPMA, and GSM needed to be updated last time but were not covered by 21P22, so they didn't do it.

The service manager texted me that APIM did not update ("will not even communicate now") and the tech will order a new one. Says most of the time it takes a few days (4 to 5) to get a new one. Sounds like they have experience replacing the APIM module. When I went to pick up the car, I asked the service manager if they had replaced the APIM on other MMEs. He said he has three MMEs and two F150s "same thing".

Don't mean to be a downer here, but you're not missing much... From experience, I can tell you it's just the social media team on here. Not an engineering team. So all they'll do is tell you to contact a dealer.

APIM stands for Accessory Protocol Interface Module. No idea why that's the name of it. Maybe someone else knows why. But it's the computer that runs the infotainment screen

Glad they are fixing it
I’m still going to wait for the fix so they don’t have to replace my apim. Hope the repair goes well!

Why do you keep posting this. You just told me to go to the dealer; dealer can't fix the problem.
Because there's a ton of legalities about what they can and can't say as an official account. They take the information and pass it along to the relevant teams within Ford.

Regarding being stuck on 1.7.1, you will need to take it to the dealer. But not yet as the fix hasn't been rolled out to them yet. If they don't contact you when it is available, I can guarantee you that someone will post about it on the forum

Will ford be contacting everyone that needs It? And if so how by email ? Letter etc?
I’m sure we will see it on here first also. Im guessing this is pertains to the f150 also?
Thanks for the updates
