Wait say what? Is the field engineer saying that the car doesn't properly differentiate 2 fobs for earlier builds? That'd sure explain our seat/mirror settings are wrong about half the time despite fobs and profile settings being properly setup for my wife and I...
Yes and Service manager advised me the same separately as I was preparing to take the car back. The June/July update is being positioned as a large "security" update.

2021 Mach-E
(cross-posting this to the various 1.7.1-stuck threads)

Just wanted to post an update here for those in the Boston/New England area that Sentry Ford in Medford was able to get me in and out in 2.5 business days (Thu, Fri, half of Mon) and apply 21P22, 22B08, and 21G01. This is on a Job1, non-EA Select AWD w/ comfort-tech package that had been stuck on the 1.7.1 update since December. Build date early/mid July 2021. Am now on Sync 22095_PRODUCT Rev 421 which I believe is Power Up 2.8.3.

I had purchased all the adapters for the TSB and printed it out, but they were left unopened. I believe I was the 2nd Mach-E that their master tech had done these updates to.

So if it's close (enough) to you, give Sentry Ford in Medford, MA a try!

Also big thanks to @generaltso for getting me some FDRS details over the week so I could see specific progress on the work.

Just got car back. APIM replaced and blue cruise installed.

Sync revision 415
Ford PowerUp 2.1 currently, hopefully more updates soon.
Blue Cruise installed

I think I saw people mention it, but wanted to also say that the blue cruise update removes lane CENTERING - leaving the car with a pretty passive lane keep assist even at the highest setting. There's a press release eluding to this with blue cruise from January so the driver is able to drive collaboratively with the car vs. Fully passing controls.

I am not am early access customer, so really not sure if I'm actually able to take advantage of Blue Cruise until it is formally released to me or I have to wait for the additional powerups or both.

Per Field Engineer: major update in June/July for 2021s that would allow for two key fobs and additional fixes? Unsure if I'll hang my hat on that - unless it also means Frunk.......
A bit confused by this.

My APIM was replaced back in Feb due to an issue with Nav shutting down. May have been an OTA issue as it turned out (not sure since there’s no history cause it’s a replacement APIM). From that time I never got any OTAs and ended up installing all updates to enable Bluecruise using FDRS and am currently showing no available updates to install.

I was not in any early access club.

I thought I’d point out that OTAs are only one method of getting updates. FDRS installs all the same updates directly into the respective modules in the car and if I were to look and see what “Powerup” version I was on in my MME it would be blank. In fact you can have a “Powerup 2.1.0” showing in Sync and still have full Bluecruise if the rest of the updates were done using FDRS, which is the case with my F-150. The 2.1.0 OTA was the last update over the air, but my truck is fully up to date in spite of that. So the version of OTA you’re on is only a useful metric if that’s the only way you’ve been getting updates

Also, I’ve had two key fobs working from the day I took delivery. I don’t think any future software update is necessary to get that to work. Just buy another fob. I don’t use PAAK at all, just fobs

So this information is from last week and from what I was told - unsure how factual. The APIM needed is on "backorder" and to get one, the field service engineer had to put in an "emergency order". I've also been working with corporate so unsure if that also helped us get an APIM almost immediately.

I believe there is certain criteria for them to escalate to replacing the APIM. 15 unsuccessful attempts and/or 20 days since the first reprogramming will lock up the APIM and necessitate replacing. My car was at 21 days allegedly so they needed to replace it to repair.

The only thing I would recommend is to continue to pressure the service team to get Field Service involved.
Thank you if after this next visit and TSM 22-2150 and 22B08 don't work I will get more aggressive about replacing it.

Should have added more details. I was on 95 in CT, activated lane keep and cruise control and was met with "Blue Cruise unavailable". I do not have blue cruise in my fordpass and show it as "coming soon" in my vehicle dashboard. So I'm not really sure if it's because it's not mapped or if I'm not actually able to use it yet.

Going on a road trip this weekend so will see if anything changes going up and down the east coast.

Re key fobs - good to hear you are able to use them. Dealer/Service told me they "were told not to program additional ones". I'll give it a go.

Hopefully I just received good news. Charity from the Ford Early Access Team just called me and a Ford Field Engineer will be at Currie Motors of Frankfort Thursday when my car goes in. He is going to work with the Tech/Mechanic to install all the Startup updates I am missing and then install Blue Cruise. She said it is a long process and to expect them to take 8 to 13 hours to complete the work so I will need to leave the car overnight. I feel excited once again and hope this will end the problem I have been having and that my car will download future OTA Startup updates after they complete the work. It has been really a breath of fresh air to be able to actually talk to and communicate with somebody from Ford about this problem which has been going on since September 2021.

Dare I say it, but there finally seems to be a little bit of hope in this thread, including for me. I had been stuck on 1.7.1. since early November, and despite three visits to my dealer, Lebanon Ford, could not get unstuck. Well, I am finally unstuck. Talked to my service advisor and he reported well over 20 hours of updates applied to my Mach-E in the last three working days. I even got the 'BlueCruise is activated"message this afternoon!

I want to shout out WyldStallyn for his help and guidance through the final stages of my update nightmare, and especially his assistance with FDRS lookups and keeping in touch with what was REALLY going on at the dealership.

I hesitated to post this message because I have a keen sense of how long others on this thread have been waiting for this to be resolved for themselves and their cars. And then I thought, I would never have stuck with it and been able to resolve this insane predicament Ford has put us all through if not for this community. Thanks to everyone for keeping the thread focused on the steps needed to get past this hurdle. Wishing everyone else still trying to get past it a good outcome.

I'm sure some one-on-one training will be conducted as well......

Car in shop for 3 weeks. They said they order a part (do not know which one, since I had to go through the service dept person who is the one that answer the phone, who contacted the service rep, who then told her the part was on order, a high priority. She said, there is nothing to do but wait for the part. At least they gave me a loaner, Ford Bronco, that gets 26 mpg. Is there a contact at corporate that we could all write to and state our frustation?

Why don’t you take the car back? That’s what I did when the APIM wasn’t in after a couple days. Made new appointment when module came in.

Can anyone tell me if I’m up to date? My software says up to date but can’t see latest updates?

There's one newer APIM/Sync module than the one you are on, but for most people, the version you're on is the one required for BlueCruise.

The newer version was just released this past weekend.

I don't know of a contact at Ford corporate other then the people we have on this board monitoring our messages. Charity from Ford's Early Access Team wrote this to me last week and then she called me yesterday:

Hi Mike,

I completely understand your concern. We investigated and the team believes the process is straightforward with your vehicle, and you should be able to get it completed at your dealer.

Also, we’re exploring support from our team here with your dealer while you’re there. Which dealer are you going to for your appointment on May 5th? What’s the exact time of your appointment?

Hope you have a great weekend! If I don’t respond to your next email, I will get back with you on Monday!

Thanks,

Charity

Charity knows how frustrated I have been as we have been corresponding back and forth since last September. When she called yesterday I was relieved as I stated earlier. I'll report back after they do whatever work the Ford Engineer tells my dealer and his Tech/Mechanic to perform. We're not all in the Early Access Program so it would need to be somebody else at Ford to vent our frustration to.
