Okay I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up the backup start pass code. I found the instructions in the manual to set the five digit door code to get into the vehicle, and that works. But once I am in the vehicle I cannot get the screen to show a passcode. I went into the manual and it explains how to use a backup start passcode but I have no idea where to set up such a code. I read in this thread that it's supposed to be eight digits but I only have the five digit master code they gave me for the door. How do you actually get into the car and start driving and using only a passcode and not a phone or fob? Where is this elusive 8 digit passcode for the screen?
Settings>Vehicle>Backup Start Passcode

If you're in the vehicle with no PaaK or fob, you have to press the start button a few times with the No Key warning message (2 or 3 times) before the passcode option pops up on the display. There may be a time delay too, but I'm too impatient, so I just smash the start button until it shows up haha.

How did you get this to work? Mine is grayed out even with the car running.

Have you set up a Door Keypad Code? I think you have to have that programmed before you can add the Backup Start Passcode.

*Edit* You also have to have Phone as a Key set up.

Ok, I have yet to get phone as key to work so that is it. Why the linkage?

the doorCode is factory set, and should be on a business card reminder stuck in your visor when you picked up car.

How do you change the backup code that can be used to start the car?
You get to pick the backup start code when you configure phone as key. I'm not sure I can be without reset but you can certainly reset and start over to set a new one. But that is a bit of a pain because you have to clear all kinds of stuff and start over as far as I know
