this price makes me feel like either this is very very inferior as a product, or everyone else is seriously ripping us off on PPF.

(both could be possible)
It would be inferior in my opinion.

It's only a select few pieces (3 it seems) of PPF for certain small areas, like the front of the hood.

Most folks would be getting full front hood/bumper/fenders/mirrors done via a professional installer.

I think it covers a way smaller area than what others are getting quoted for. And it is the "easy" area of just the hood and part of the fenders. The front of the Mach-E looks like it would be a pain to cover.

Just got another quote back and they are estimating as they don't have the patterns but:

Partial Hood,Fenders, Mirrors & Front Bumper approx. $1400

FULL Hood/Fenders, Mirrors & Front Bumper $2400-$2600

Headlights approx $150
Are headlamps worth it to wrap? They won't dent only crack, which rarely happens. I would cover them with ceramic coating. Makes cleaning the car so easy.

That price is just for the parts. Installation is the killer.

In my area,
PPF Partial = $1400
PPF Full Front = $1800
Full Wrap = $3000-5000

I remember watching quite a bit of professional wrap videos saying the cost of the wrap is in the $400-700 range. So most of the cost is for labor.

If any of you are handy and willing to experiment on your Mach-E, can prob save a big chunk of change by doing it yourself. Oh, we have a friend that is a car wash guy that also does ceramic coating...the materials itself is a few $100 and good for 2 cars he said.

do we know exactly how this maps to the entry-level PPF application that people have gotten quotes for over $1000 on? Not the full hood, not the full car, but just the starter point? because we've seen nothing quoted under $1000 for even minimal starting point protection.

If it's anything like the factory-installed PPF on my Nissan Leaf, it doesn't protect plastic pieces from getting cut all the way through the paint.

Has anyone tried contacting XPEL to see about getting the patterns done for the Mach-E? Their website still doesn't have them listed. I sent a message to the XPEL user that chimed in on this thread early on, not sure if whoever that was still monitoring this/etc.

Just wondering what they need/where they need a Mach-E in order to design the patterns. Would be incredibly beneficial to all of us who want XPEL installed right after delivery.

Absolutely worth wrapping! Especially since you can get precut pieces. Over time the lenses get worn and lose their original clarity; worse examples are cloudy and even a bit yellowed. While the film will also degrade, it’s pretty easy to remove/replace (use heat and a plastic scraper). though the only time I’ve removed the film was in a Subaru I was selling. I had installed the headlight film when it was new, and sold the car around 100k if I recall. The car was in decent shape for its miles, but after removing the headlight film, those lights looked factory new.

3M still doesn't have precut PPF yet either. Hopefully soon.

I hadn't checked 3M yet, but thanks! The only local XPEL installer also does 3M so was going to quote both.

I contacted the Xpel company shop in Austin. They asked about using my Mach E for the design patterns and I agreed. They are waiting for it to come in and they will bring the designers from Xpel's headquarters in San Antonio to measure it and figure out where to put the cut seams.

Dealer had quoted a build day of 1/8 and a delivery of 2/8. The dealer said the put it on a "HOT" order for delivery whatever that means.

The car was built 1/15 and is showing up on the Ford Pass app as Awaiting Activation. Has not shipped yet though.

Looks like I was lucky enough to miss the Stop Ship and maybe the delivery in Texas will be a little shorter. The dealer agreed to leave the all the plastic on, not wash the car and not add the front license plate bracket. It is going directly from the dealer to the Xpel company owned shop.

VIN is 3FMTK3SU9MMA10372 if you want to track it. Palsapp is showing nothing.

Called my local XPEL installer yesterday and since there's no templates yet, was told I'd have to physically bring the car in for them to measure and quote.

Wish Ford could have taken one to XPEL/3M to have measurements taken for templates!!
