Hello, everyone. I have a Mach-E with the panoramic roof. So far everything has been good with the car, but it has been developing an increasingly frequent creaking noise. It appears to be coming from the panoramic roof glass in the rear, where it has the arch cut into it/where the antenna fin sits.

At first, I thought it was the headliner or the antenna wire, so I wedged in some foam and wrapped the cord in foam, but it did not help. I went back in, and realized that pushing on the panel under the headliner in the arch area or on the glass around the arch area, it makes the creaking noise. When driving, the creak occurs when there seems to be some flex to the body (over bumps, etc), so it sounds like it is the joint between the glass and the body making the noise.

Does anyone else have this issue? Do dealers care about creaking sounds as a warranty item or will they just say it is what it is?

There are several threads about the glass roof and wind noise. I'm not sure yours is the same, but you might want to head over to one of those and see if there's any similarities.

I've seen those, but it's definitely not wind noise. I've been searching around for a few days but couldn't find anything like my issue, so I finally decided to sign up for the forum.

It's a very distinctive creaking noise that can occur even at low speed -- like 2-3mph.

It's probably not normal, but I don't think any of us here can definitively tell you what a dealer would say. Your best bet is to call them and complain, and if they blow you off complain some more.

That's definitely my plan! My car also has the misaligned panoramic glass so I'm wondering if that's a part of it too. I never noticed excessive wind noise, but the creaking can be heard over the stereo with every bump and is driving me nuts! It was here and there at first, but it's becoming more and more consistent.

I was curious if others were also experiencing it but it wasn't bothering them as much, or if it was more of an issue specific to my car. Its sounding like it might be the latter.

If it's a noticeable noise that can be reproduced easily most dealers will do their best to fix it. Problems arise in the 'you can only hear this noise every eighth time you go over a certain bump if you are quiet as a corpse' situations. ?

I have no creaks at all, and I haven’t heard reports of that particular problem. You should definitely take it in to the dealer to check out.

I don't have any creaks or rattles in my car (now 1000 miles in). I'd probably try and get Ford to fix it if I did.

I'm glad to hear it seems like this isn't a common issue! Hopefully the dealer can fix it, and that it won't take too long. I'm at 1100 miles now, so it definitely seemed a bit early for all the noises to start up.

I almost wonder if some of the cases of the cracked roofs started this way (that can't be attributed to impact damage) and it's only a matter of time before either a seal breaks and water gets in, or the stress becomes too much for the glass.

I'll try to get into the service department tomorrow. My dealer I purchased from was about as scummy as they come, so I'll have to go to a different one. Not seeing any more money from me!

Just noticed you're here in the Valley. Which dealer did you buy from?
Sanderson and Chapman have gotten some good service reviews.

I bought it from Camelback Ford. It was a bit spur of the moment. The person that originally ordered it didn't purchase it. I guess all the Camelback dealers plus quite a few others around the valley are owned by Berkshire Hathaway and should be avoided. After my experience, I will never visit any on this list. I even went back to my family members who had told me about bad experiences throughout the valley, and they all linked back to dealers on that list too.

I've heard great things about Sanderson Ford. That is where I am going tomorrow. It wasn't Chapman Ford, but we also bought a car at Chapman Hyundai yesterday, and it was night-and-day different in how much better it was.

I test drove an MME at Camelback. Didn't end up buying cause of the skeevy vibe, and I decided I was willing to wait for an Infinite Blue one. @shutterbug bought his there and it was a less than stellar experience.
The dealers that are now BH used to be the Van Tuyl group, with a notoriously bad rep.

Ah! I figured out the quote feature! Yes, it was just not good at all. I could go on and on about them, but I'll generally refrain. The two sales people I worked with were quite good. Past that, it goes downhill quick. I would say, to anyone considering them, to double check every number on your contract. They 100% will lie to your face. This was my first truly bad experience at a dealership and they definitely snuck things in on me because I was exhausted (also a tactic) and really wasn't expecting it to be quite as bad as it was.

So, early last week I got 10% off coupon for parts and accessories from Camelback. Since I had $115 in Ford points to burn as well, I called Wednesday afternoon and ordered front and rear seat covers (they are $169 each set). Thursday I get a call that they've arrived. Friday morning I drove there to pick them up. Get the invoice. I'm being charged $160.55 for each set. Point out that's a bit more than 10% off. He tries to tell me that he took off 5% for each set for a total %10 off. Spend 15 minutes explaining patiently that's not how math works.get my additional discount as a separate credit. I'm certain that most people will never notice this until they get home.

As I said before, when dealers make a mistake, it's never in you favor. Funny that.
