Does anyone know if it would it be beneficial to schedule a few “fake” departure times a week while leaving it plugged in? Might that charge the 12V?
No. 12v SoC will trigger the charge it requires when/if it requires.

The did 12v SOC increase once you started driving again or did you end up getting a new battery shortly after?
I plugged it back in a set the charge limit back to 85% at a slower 240/16a. That got it back to full basically before my next drive.

why would I need a new battery? Everything worked perfectly.

If it’s going to be in the garage I would pop the frunk in case the 12V dies so you can jump it easier.
Not a bad idea. I hadn't thought of this but as one who is going on 4 years with the original 12v battery, I may start doing this.

I've left my car for 30 days or more 3 times. Based on information I got on this forum I have left it charged to 70% and not plugged in. Never had an issue. As someone said earlier in this thread, the software will start a charge on the aux battery if it gets below a certain SOC - not sure what that SOC is.

It would not be beneficial, no.

I didn’t think you would I just wasn’t sure if the 12v would have charged fully again. I had an escape and OTA updates weren’t going through successfully and ford said it was because the 12v battery was in the 60s and it needed to be above 80% SOC for them to be successful so dealer replaced the battery.

understood, yeah my car has been great at keeping the battery well over 80%. Unless I leave it for days on end, it always keeps it in the mid to high 90’s%.

must be the newer programming

Doesn't popping the frunk trigger a warning light that might drain the 12V? Maybe only when car is ON and running so it has not effect when turned off?

All the complaints here of 12v battery death combined with the hassle involved unique to our cars if/when it happens.

“ALL” ???

Perspective is important.

I know the 12V may fail on me one day.

I just don’t let the prospect of it spoil my life in the meantime preparing for it, changing what I do to try and avoid or manage the process.

When it happens, it happens, I’ll just deal with it, move on and get on with things afterwards.

I'd submit that your situation is slightly different. Don't know what it's like in the UK, but in the US Ford Roadside Assistance isn't consistent. When you get locked out of your Mach-E, you might be at a remote charging area that you really didn't want to be in at all - and now you're stuck OUTSIDE at say 10PM waiting hours for a tow truck.

I'm getting both the Mach-E and Lightning 12v batteries tested by dealership right before their 3 year warranty expires (mid-May and early June), in the hope that they MIGHT fail and I'll get new ones. If they pass, I intend to have a printed test result so if they then fail a few weeks later, I have a valid complaint to Ford.

There are too many 12v Mach-E failures, way more than the Lightning.

I'm actually more in your corner on this as I've been wondering if/when it may die for over a year now but I can't bring myself to spend money and time on a possible problem with there's no indication of an issue with my battery yet.

It's not "spoiling my life", but if it does die, the inconvenience of all the things you have to do to replace it will certainly spoil my day/week.
