A couple of weeks ago my MachE was hit by a large rolling cart in a parking lot. The cart hit the drivers side rear quarter panel right on the body line. I’m getting a mix of opinions- some PDR folks say they can take care of it, while others are saying the crowned metal will require a body shop for a complete repair.

Has anyone had to deal with similar damage on their car and how did you repair this and what was the outcome of the repair?

Hmm, that is a tricky spot with the crease there. I'd say find a well rated PDR place and let them have a go at it. If they get it to a point you are satisfied with (maybe not PERFECT, but really good) then you could be out of it for $200. If they can't, then you can take it to a real body shop, but you won't get a quote there for anything less than $2500.

Basically, for the price differential it is worth a shot for PDR. If they fail, you aren't any worse off.

That is an easy fix for a good PDR guy. The metal is thin and easy to work with. From the looks of it your lucky won't even need a buffer.

Thanks. I did find a great PDR guy in Walnut Creek, CA and the work was done in less than a day. Looks as good as new!

That's great. If you do need actual body work beyond that, I would suggest going to a body shop associated with a dealership that sells a lot of F150s since they have a lot of aluminum and should be experts in the area. Just got my MME back last week that somebody had hit and it looks as good as new (but still have to deal with insurance company about diminished value).

The PDR guy isn’t on site but comes by when there are jobs to complete.
