I despise the horn and lights button on the key fob. I had cars with a similar button for 16 years before the MME. I've had the MME since Dec and I've hit that button by accident (usually just bending over to tie my shoes or to reach for something and put pressure on the pocket some how). Literally, it's been going off about once a week.

What's the purpose of horn+lights anyways? I've literally never used it on any car on purpose (and only accidentally on the MME).

How do I a) disable that button?? b) require the button to be pressed 3x? or c) require the button to be held down for 5 sec (least favorable option).

What would be even better than a/b/c would be to change the function of the button — remote start or open frunk.

Any help is greatly appreciated (by me and my neighbors).

Ooh! Thanks @RickMachE !

If there's no way to programmatically change the behavior of the button, the file approach sounds like a really good approach. This made my night :)

(I searched the forum and didn't see this. I didn't know it was called a panic button. Thanks!)

Most people use it to find their car in a parking lot, I believe.

Is there a fob for any kind of car in this country that doesn't have a panic button? There may be a way to disable it with FORScan.

I would much prefer a frunk opening button to a panic button. If I ever wanted to panic I could just hide in frunk as if it were a panic room.
Or a remote start button like EVERY OTHER KEY FOB I’ve ever owned.

I thought someone in another post linked to it being regulation in the US to have a panic button

Panic button on the fob is designed for panic, and for finding a car (although few use it for that latter purpose).

Women, more than men, might be focused on this function, as well as safe charging locations.

I'll have to go look at the FOB again. I haven't seen it since I got the car 11 months ago. I hope I can find it.
