I am planning a trip from Sugar Land TX to S Padre Island TX next week. Ford Pass shows the route being 356 miles, the range on my Mach E is 262 miles. I am debating whether to take my Mach E or my ICE. I don't see any high speed chargers along this route. I don't want to be delayed for several hours while I charge my vehicle. Has anyone taken a similar route and have any recommendations on chargers? I am really surprised that on a major route like this that there isn't any high speed chargers past southwest Houston.

I haven’t driven the route myself, but based on the few road trips I’ve done in my Mach E I’d say just take your ice car and save yourself a lot of headache. Even on my trips where there are multiple options for fast chargers, I’ve had issues and frustrations, even a few close calls. I have also decided to skip certain road trips I have planned until I rent a car for them. This is strictly my own opinion though.

Use sites like ABetterRoutePlanner.com and Plugshare.com. ABRP tells you to charge in Corpus Christi. The only high speed chargers there are at car dealers, and they aren't fast. And it's 200 miles.

Take your gas car.
