Apparently the dealer had to remove the plastic cover under the hood for some of the updates (not sure why). When I got home I found this clip behind the driver wiper.

For anyone who has removed the covers, do you know where this clip goes?

I setup another appointment for tomorrow but it's a waste of my time, so just seeing if I can take care of this myself. Does make me wonder if others are missing too, but I hate opening the FRUNK so I'm not looking to dig around.

There are several of them on each plastic frunk cover. If you pull it up again, it should be pretty obvious which one is missing. They are just slid into holders on the underside of the plastic cover then clip into holes on the car. They come loose very easy. I’ve already lost three.

3 different kinds of clips (retainers), right? You don' have the one that looks like a pan head screw labeled; does it come out as well? Hopefully the 2022 model will have an access port to gain access to the battery charging points so all this will become unnecessary.

Anyone know the part numbers of these clips to get extras?

I will go take a look

I wonder if it might work to put a small strip of gaffer's tape or electrical tape at the end of the slot?

More troublesome for looks, but possibly helpful to mark the location, continue the tape the edge so it is just visible from above? [edit - I forgot the opening is to the inside, so a tape mark, or other mark visible on top to show where to pry, but still problematic as to looks]

So many of us have had those clips come out (Hey Ford!), it seems like there should be more of a click action or some kind of improved stop to hold them in. I've recovered all but one of my missing clips. If you lose a clip to the lower front belly pan, and don't recover it, it is mostly likely gone out one of the two large openings to the road.

Well my cover has been on and off so often by the dealer, they lost clips and came up with this as a fix. They actually stay in place much better, however they cut them down ever so slightly so they need modding.

Anyone know which part these are?

I don’t remember the part number but I had my dealer, which has an excellent parts guy, order me some extras. I’ll see if I can find the part number again.

Use Google images to search for "Rocker Panel Moulding Retainer". There are a lot of variations that look like this one. Some look like they have soft washers. Most of the nearly identical fasteners are GM parts.

The part number for the OEM black clips is W720957-S300. They are $2.19 each and come in a pack of 4. What I do with all clips as I take things apart (frunk covers, rear quarter trim panels, door panels, dash, etc.) is apply a little silicone grease to the clips. This way, I can pull the panels on and off easily and the clips stay on the panel or trim and not on the body of the car.

I don't think snap clips are appropriate for anything that has to be removed/replaced more than a couple times..... They are bound to break, get lost, get damaged after a couple times.

I'll probably change to anchor screws, rivnuts, or cut out removable covers over access points.

Those white clips are a clever idea.
My problem with those HM1 clips is they slide out of their pockets so easily. I added some friction tape to the pockets and that did the trick.....so far.

My dealer lost some of the clips when they replaced the windshield......and they forgot to reconnect up my washer hose for the windshield so I had to pop off that cover and reconnect the hose and noticed several clips missing. They ordered me some replacements. Just came in yesterday.

W717678-S300 for those clips at the corners
W720957-S300 for the main ones.

I popped my cover off yesterday, and I noticed one was missing as well. I ordered the replacement plus a few extra, but what happens to anything that accidentally drops down in that area in the Mach-E? On an ICE vehicle, the engine area is generally open to the ground below, so anything that falls down (if it isn't trapped somewhere in the engine assembly) will end up on the ground below the car.

Asking because I'm not 100% sure if the piece was lost or popped off when I removed the plastic covering. I looked all around the car for it, but I didn't see it. I also used a flashlight to look through all of the cables and hoses, but I didn't see it there, either.
