Rushed? This software has been in production cars for months.

Slow rollout does NOT equal less bugs.

A solid development methodology and strong QA at the development stage reduces bugs.

as an example, what bugs am I being protected from by not having a frunk button on a job1 21?
Agree. Staged rollouts to targeted user groups usually helps reduce software errors, after which the software can be implemented to users at large.
Received the update yesterday. Looks and performs well. The new features hierarchy is effective, but not perfect - not sure any organizational structure would be ideal. New screen layout and control knob integration w/climate system is helpful.

Totally agree with you here. It also helps prevent crazy loads on their servers. This is why iOS has automatic updates but takes a month or two to actually run. Apple doesn't want all the devices to hit the server at the same time. Would be a nightmare.

Still waiting for 4.1.1 currently. I'm on 3.5.4 and don't see anything pending according to Ford. So waiting to see when my VIN is blessed with the rollout.

OK, I changed my vote today. I won the lottery last night and 4.1.2 updated overnight after receiving 4.1.1 two days ago. I am not in EA, but do have the auto updates on and auto checking every night. 2021 job 2 MME

so far I am really liking the new layout of the screen and the ability to use the volume knob to control seat heat.

ability to use the volume knob to control seat heat.
Showed it to my wife yesterday, but it didn't impress her. What she really liked is the ability to tap the seat icon to change the heating level. "Finally it works correctly, like in my Honda".

Here is a new one for me. Update schedule to install 3.6.2, which I have had for a while now. It has attempted to install twice and has failed. Not sure why they are pushing an update that has already been installed OTA....

After living with 4.1.2 for a couple of days, I like the UI, but have come across a pretty nasty bug.

  1. I cannot set/change departure times in the car, and when I do so from the app, they do not reflect in the car (Android, for reference)
  2. I also cannot change charging settings for my home location in the car, nor are they reflected in the car when changed from the app. The good news is that what I have it set to is what continues to work, but if I need to change it for some reason, I cannot under existing circumstances.
For bug #1 within the vehicle, departure times are "on" but grayed out and I cannot make any changes (e.g. no edit icon, does not respond to a press, etc.)

This is an issue because of the cold weather that is coming back to the Chicago area, and I now have no way of preconditioning or warming-up the cabin.

For bug #2, there is no place in the UI within the vehicle to change it at all from what I can tell. This one could very well be an ID10T error on my part. For me, it's less critical right now, but for some it may be a big deal.

I am afraid to try the "remove your home location" trick since there's no way I can program it in the vehicle itself.

Hopefully, 4.2.3 for Android (whenever it comes out) helps - but the fact that for both scenarios I have no UI method of updating in the car, is concerning.

This. There will always be additional bugs once software hits a mass of users no matter how thorough the beta testing was. Limited rollouts to the general population (Early Access et. al.) allow for a pullback or some tweaking if needed. As well as lower stress on the servers.
I just got 3.6.2 this morning. Fml 😭
Well, would you prefer to have remained on 3.6.1 longer? ;)

Seriously, hopefully the updates will start a steady stream of downloads to you soon. And to those who are still on 3.5.4

I got 3.6.2 last night and this morning she has updated to 4.1.1 on its own. Basically two updates in less than 24hr period.
I hope 4.1.2 will happen soon.

Exactly.

It's also not just a server thing - if something dreadful happened that bricked or caused notable issues to vehicles in too large of numbers, the dealer network could not handle it. Sometimes bugs do not show up until you hit scale or end up with the right (really wrong) mix of hardware/software configurations out there that make things go sideways. Slow and steady is the right way to go until they get their sea legs.

Software updates are hard, and especially so for something that has direct impact on safety in a regulated environment.

Ford will get better or lose out to the competition who does.

Working from home today. Just noticed that 4.1.2 arrived. I'm now sitting in my car, in the garage checking out everything @scoopman (Andy) went over in his video. 😁

Don't tell my boss 😉

Sorry if this is a little gratuitous - but I'm feeling bitter stuck on 3.5.4 as an EA participant, and I wonder just how bitter I should be...
I was on 3.5.4 as well but received the 4.1.1 on the night of the 18Th and 4.1.2 during the next day after a few short trips around town.. I never received any notification about the 3.6.x updates so I don't know if they were installed.

The user interface improvements are very nice. Don't car for the early 1990s monochrome window looking icons but at this point I am simply happy to have more functionality.

At least I am not on 3.5.4. That’s so plebeian. I’m on 3.5.4.2. 🤪🐩
