We honestly don’t know when the button is going to get enabled. Some people have updated their BCM through FDRS and can use the keypad on the door to open their drunks, but there currently is no on-screen or in-FordPass button.

Amazing, shame you cant use your phone's internet.

I don't think this update breaks existing support for using your home Wi-Fi, or your phones as a Hotspot to share your phones data plan. But rather Ford may introduce additional streaming plans if one plans to use the built-in cellular functions of the vehicle modem alone.

The guy demonstrating YouTube in the vid above was connected to his homes Wi-Fi, as an example so we know you can in fact still use your phones data if you so chose to do so.

You're underestimating the skill of Ford engineers - I'd bet 5 of the 4 ways to do it will be broken within 5 years.

Those of us who have updated the BCM and GFM have also added the button to the screen. It's still not in FordPass though.

You can if you put your phone in hotspot mode

Can you cast to the car's display? Otherwise, why not just bring a tablet along. Come to think of it, not sure I care to watch video on a portrait only display. Instead of this, how about allowing a full calendar when stopped and media playback data at all times. I would find that far more useful than Netflix and YouTube.

I dunno man, everyone has their own preferences, you are free to do that and other people are free to do this. Both things can be OK

I really don’t want another subscription service. I want apple CarPlay to let me play the streaming apps on the screen that I already have on my phone. I really don’t understand why Apple won’t let me use video entertainment apps while I’m parked. And I don’t need to pay for a 5G plan for my car. My phone has connectivity already. I get that Ford wants another recurring revenue stream but this isn’t really how I want things to go.

I like the progress, but from someone with a year-old Job 1 car that still doesn’t even have BlueCruise, I’m expecting this is going to come to my Mach-E around the time YouTube has the holographic brain projection videos.

Honestly, it’s kind of depressing.


(Yes, I know I could “go to the dealer and have it done,” but I’ve read enough stories here of dealerships screwing it up that I’m not taking the risk.)

Go get it done! I’ve had it for months and love it. Sorry your OTA isn’t working… Mine had been flawless with every update.
