(I got Bong bong'd by Sync and the Radio was off for about 10 min, I guess while it was installing while driving)

Rather than slipped update, I suspect it is more likely that sometimes a couple of updates come in and the owner only sees the most recent notice.

6.3. Finally out of 6.1 Job 1 jail.

Got 6.2.1 a few days ago. Then got a notice that 6.4.0 will install when scheduled, I have it set for 6 am every morning. 6.4.0 tried and failed this morning and said something else blocked the update.
I had it plugged into my EVSE L2 charger - the SOC reached 80% long before 6.
I made sure that the car was ready but it still failed when I tried to do update now.
