Thanks. One more detail not shown on spec sheet - what is widest width of the charger body? I am trying to shoehorn this between cb panel and comm panel.
5" wide at the top.

Almost 5 inches. The other measurements appear to be 9.5-10" for the top of the plug to the point that sits flush with the top of the EVSE body, and roughly 10" for the EVSE length, plus some extra inches for the cord that comes out the bottom of it that runs to the vehicle coupler.

Wow! Thanks!!! Just spent a hour of wasted time getting transferred between 6 customer service reps at Ford who finally referred me to the parts dept at my dealer. My dealer’s parts guys couldn’t find this info and would not take time to pop the trunk on their demo MEE to measure charger. So you saved the day!

Probably a dumb question but is it possible to travel with a Ford Connected Charge Station? We split a lot of time between both our parents houses and want to see if both houses have 240V outlets, we can just port the Connected back and forth. The Mobile charger isn't that much slower so is probably the better option here (just exploring all options)

Thanks!

No, it's not possible because the Connected charger has to be hard-wired into the circuit. It's not a plug-in.

However the Ford Mobile Charger that comes with the car can be plugged in to any 14-50 outlet.

I'd add that there are plenty of other third party chargers that have a 14-50 plug also, so one of those would be relatively portable. Your best bet is to just put a 14-50 outlet where you go least and use the mobile charger when you're there, and either a hardwired or plug-in wall mounted unit where you are the most.

Is there any reason, other than saving some time on charging, to use anything other than mobile charger that comes with the car?
I'm planning to get the outlet installed in the garage, but not sure if I want to install in "ground up" for the mobile, or "ground down" for any other. Is it easy to flip it later?

If you go with a smart charger you can easily vary your charging amperage through the app if needed/desired. The app will provide data about your charge sessions. You can keep the mobile charger in the car in case you need it on the road.

Many of us just decided to leave the included mobile charger in the car permanently (just in case) and mount a stouter wall charger in the garage permanently. Especially since it's effectively 30% off with the federal tax credit.

But of course there's nothing wrong with just using the mobile charger for it all, as long as 32A meets your needs. Personally I went with a $400 Grizzl-E (effectively $280 after tax credit) that's can be set for anything from 16A to 40A. I lowered mine to 24A since that's plenty overnight, and it keeps my demand charge down a bit lower on my monthly electric bill.

I believe the pigtail can usually be bent into a U-shape if needed as well, if the outlet is oriented wrong. I'd guess the outlet can be rotated too, but it's heavy wire so probably kinda depends on the space in the box.

I used the mobile charger at home. It’s installed in my wall with a 14-50 plug. Never had to take it off the wall yet. At 30 amps the charging is quiet, meaning the car doesn’t need to kick on the cooling system (which is loud!).

I'm no tax lawyer but I've read that the tax credit applies only to a hard wired charger.

I wanted the convenience of always having my mobile charger in the car. The garage has a wall-mounted EVSE (and in my case, since it is 48 amp, it is direct-wired instead of a NEMA 14-50 receptacle).

I do have a ChargePoint Home Flex which came with a NEMA 14-60 Plug and that was also wired for ground-pin on top. I have an AC-Works NEMA 14-50 to NEMA 6-20 (120v 20amp) receptacles (only possible if the NEMA 14-50 was wired with all four conductors. Using either leg of the 240v circuit combined with the neutral conductor provides 120v power) and that plug was also molded for ground-pin on top. I also have a 50 amp NEMA 14-50 extension cord ... and the plug on that is *also* wired for ground-pin on top. (It's trivial to flip the plug should you discover you have something that needs ground-pin on bottom.)

The credit applies to "The purchase and installation of residential fueling equipment."
There is nothing that says it must be "hard-wired".
