I didn't see a pre-contactor voltage sensor but I'm sure that is somewhere else?

That massive capacitor on the inverter. That's to prevent voltage ripple, right?

That's where my curiosity is - wondering if there would be visible damage out to the exterior of the unit

Great video, very educational. To me those contactors more like relays, just like AC relay and starter relays on ICE cars but have to handle much larger current and higher voltage. Such big current and high voltage do cause arcing when the line being turn on or off.
