I don't recall reading anywhere what the L is for. Probably low, but what does it do?

On most EVs, L is used to select an increased regenerative braking mode. I'm unsure if that holds true for the Mach-E though.

On my Bolt, it activates one-pedal driving. Hope it is the same for the Mach-E (although there seems to be in option for that a layer or two deep in the big screen menu system).

No doubt that's it. Basically the same function as downshifting an ICE as it applies to going downhill (to slow down without riding the brake).

It simulates Low gear in a traditional ICE vehicle. Limits your speed while descending a step grade.
The vehicle uses regenerative braking to simulate engine braking to give this effect. It's not true 1 pedal driving.....more like max regen is a better description.

Yet one more reason we all want access to the owners' manual!

Actually on the Bolt putting it into L does enable 1-pedal mode. The following things happen in L on the Bolt:
  • Creep is disabled
  • The throttle/accelerator pedal is remapped so that you get that regen "at the top"
  • Regen to a complete stop is enabled

Correct. Chevrolet Bolt is that way.
Since the Mach E is built by Ford, I am assuming the "L" function is similar to how it operates in current Ford electric vehicles.

I guess we will see when the owner's manual is available. I believe the MME has a different method for the driver to switch into and out of 1 pedal mode but not certain about that.....

To the OP. We really don't know. Best we can do is guess. Does it operate like existing Ford Vehicles or is it something all new and different than before? Time will tell.

As mentioned in the thread I link above, the “L” setting provides additional regen braking, but it’s not true one-pedal driving. In fact, as also mentioned in the other thread, it’s no more regen than already present on Unbridled mode. In fact, the MME has a specific separate setting for one-pedal driving.
