2024 Ford Mustang Mach E GT
Hey all! First time posting. I purchased my 2024 Mach E GT in November and I am *in love*. Best car I've owned. (Got a frickin sweet deal on it too.) I've already put 20K miles on it - so many road trips! - and I am fast approaching the 36K warranty. Debating the value of buying an extended warranty.

What has everyone's experience, both their own and what they have heard, about the long term hardiness of these cars? I know it only came out in 2021, so it's hard to gauge these things. My main concern is the electronics on this car. There is so much and I am worried that Ford may not be the best company to have locked down those kinds of details. I'm worried that I will have a $10K computer to replace down the road.

Appreciate any and all feedback!

I'm still shopping myself, but I can tell you that my friends who've owned a 2021 since, well, 2021, absolutely still love it. They had some issue with our local dealership fixing a recall, but have had fewer issues overall than with their Honda Odyssey ICE.

3 years old today. 52K miles. No real problems that indicate a longevity problem. Electronics all work. Battery health is fine (93%). Car just works.

I only have six months, but I weighed Consumer Reports reliably into my decision. It is one of their recommended electric vehicles.

I did have one warranty problem, but it was fixed quickly by the local dealer. Thanks to this forum, my mind is at ease about it. I did learn that if you know ICE cars, you have a sense of what is a big deal and what isn’t. I don’t have that sense for electric cars. My experience taught me to begin with the assumption that breakage is a small thing.

I recently exited the factory warranty (had the car for three years) and am now in overtime (Ford PremiumCare extended warranty). I'm very glad to have the protection. So far the two big ticket repairs that my car has needed were an oil pump replacement (yes, the car has them - two of them in fact), and an HVBJB replacement. Had the former been this year rather than last, I would have had a sizable repair bill. As for the HVBJB, I suspect it would depend on where it stood in relationship to the recall that was issued for them.

All that said, given how many miles you're putting on your car, AFAIK the longest PremiumCare warranty is for 100K miles, so if you keep up the amount of driving you're doing, you'd likely reach that in around five years. Judt something to factor as you consider what to do.

Best of luck in your decision and glad you love your car so much!!

The only major (expensive) thing that seems to go on early models is the HVBJB, which so far I haven't heard of anyone being left high and dry by Ford for.

Aside from that, there are exponentially less parts than a comparable ICE car, so I would imagine much less maintenance issues as these cars get older.

I have a 2021 Job 1 and to be honest it looks like it was just driven off the showroom. I have 27K miles on it over the years the tech started off bad and got better with updates. Love the car and will hold it until the redesigned Mach-e hoping 2026, or the Riven midsize SUV comes. or the all-new electric Jeep Recon, or the NEW Scout SUV. For sure staying electric.

I have ‘21 Premium AWD ER and bought the ext warranty. I haven’t had any repairs needed except warranty/recall work that was covered. Ive seen posts with just one thing goes out like a camera, sensor, etc and it’s $1000+ to repair. There are 3 online ford dealers that sell ext warranties at a big discount compared to most dealers, Flood, Granger and Ziegler. I got a 8yr 100k mile $100 ded as I don’t drive but 10k miles a year and plan to keep the car for awhie. I paid about $1800.

I have a ‘23 Premium been in a few times for minor warranty items. Just out of warranty with some presumably tech/update issues arose I can’t connect PAAK, no blue cruise, and have electrical system drain errors popping up again (after a month +). Waiting for Ford to confirm a 5 +/- hour update will fix it.

Regarding the extended warranty I was advised if there isn’t a service letter / bulletin the extended warranty doesn’t cover it. Not sure it is worth it as fast as I put miles on it

I got a Ford Premium Care extended warranty on my 2021 Premium. I had the left front headlamp replaced because the LED turn signal worked erratically, right rear window motor stopped working and right rear boot on the half shaft was leaking grease. All this was after 36K miles. I think the repairs were a little over $5K for all three. I paid $2365 for the 7 year, 100K mile, 0 deductible warranty (including the lighting, key fob replacement and same day car rental options). I traded the car in for a '24 and I got back $1300 from Granger (unused portion of warranty). Think I made out well on that one and bought the same extended warranty for my 2024 GT.

Coming up on 4 years and 40,000 miles. No major problems!!! Had the recall stuff done even though I never had any issues with the (Glass Roof & HVJB). The car works better than the day I picked it up via OTAs. Just drove up to Western Carolina and back from ATL last weekend. Blue Cruise was "on top of it's game" on the way home. Four hours of driving time and it disengaged ONCE for only a few seconds.

There was a poll recently that showed the owners are split 50/50 on whether or not to buy an extended warranty.

No one here can claim that they know the long term longevity of the Mach-E because we don’t have enough experience with it.

And, the car doesn’t have a $10k computer. The battery is the most expensive system and it is the last one you need to worry about.

You are consuming your vehicle at a very fast clip. You already saved a bunch of money buying it and are likely saving a bunch more operating it vs ice options. I’d keep the savings aside to aid in future repairs.

Mine will be 4 years old June 1st and other than warranty work no issues with car. Have 72K miles and it still feels new. Now that I'm retired I only drive around 5-7K miles a year. I wish I would have gotten an extended since I am keeping it for at least a couple more years
