How did they build all those cars in Mexico before the tooling was even there at the beginning of this year?
I must not have read through something correctly.
In the early part of the year they were building what they could in Cuautitlan and other parts were being made in Dearborn and shipped to them.

Wonder how that lines up with the estimates here?
Pretty spot on, from what I'm remembering. ~300 pre-productions for testing/showing was a number I think I recall. Which is about the total thru Sept.

We also heard somewhere in the 2000-4000 range for FCTP demos (depending on whether Europe was included then or not). Then a mix of customer + FCTP beginning late Oct. Matches up well.

Suggests that there should be around 3000 waiting on OKTB now. Not sure if they're all sitting on the plant lots or if some have been shifted to another place for temp holding waiting on OKTB.

I'm more interested in how many shipped....
That’s easy. Zero.
Not quite. Sellable units shipped = very few.
Almost everything shipped have been pre-production prototypes sent out for advertising purposes like the Mach E Tour. A very few lucky Ford big wigs have already received their cars.

I though nothing could be sellable until OKTB? I just assumed that meant the ones "given" out so far just stay in Ford's ownership but are issued to certain employees (big wigs) as company cars. Or something like that.

That's interesting and more than I would have thought. Wonder how that lines up with the estimates here?
I was believing there were 1800 cars in Oct and 2200 in Nov so I was off by around 800 cars in total.

It must have been mentioned somewhere, but I have not seen it. How many Mach Es is Ford planning on manufacturing in 2021 ?

I really don't know how Ford's executive cars are handled. However, the numbers are tiny and it's all "in the family". They could allow those to be "sellable" and go out pre-OKTB because fixing issues after the fact could be handled internally.

Their original goal of 50,000 model year 2021 Mach-E's was based on how many batteries they could get. The insiders here have suggested that Ford was able to get more batteries, so there may be up to 80,000 2021 model year MME's

Official word was 50,000 and was limited by battery availability. That was the November 2019 announcement and may have changed. However, Ford has said nothing different from this officially.

Nothing has changed. 50,000 for the 2021 MODEL year. MODEL year 2022 starts in CALENDAR year 2021, so total units built in CALENDAR year 2021 will exceed 50,000, since now you have 2022 models also.

That said, the realities of COVID are exerting downward pressure on that number, exceeding the desire for upward pressure.

Right, but there was also speculation there may be more than 50,000 due to higher demand.

The constraint is not demand, it's supply.
Darren Palmer also did a video (I think it was him) where he stated 50k felt right. Maybe that's all they asked to procure initially. Doesn't mean they can't go back to LG for more, right?
