Production will probably be delayed.

Hyped for the election year? That's an extraordinary claim and I'm fascinated by the mental road one must travel to reach that conclusion.

Please explain what Switzerland declaring what amounts to a national emergency and shutting down public life has to do with the American election?

Are you implying that the swamped hospitals and dying patients in Italian hospitals are there merely to influence the latest presidential candidate debate held in front of no audience?

The Chinese media is state controlled and isn't driven by clickbait advertising. Explain why if this is so media hyped that the outbreak was initially tightly censored after its initial reporting? Why were the doctors who tried to warn everyone being jailed? Was that for the hype too?

This is an international medical emergency unlike anything any of us have ever experienced. Please don't inject American politics into something that is so obviously apolitical and cares nothing for international borders or party affiliation.
The infection rate for this virus is proving to be far less than that experienced in China where the virus first appeared. The point of expression of the virus is an unusually unprepared area with few modern medial technologies.

The death rate is dropping as it spreads to nations who enjoy more developed medicine. 80% of those infected will experience mild or moderate symptoms. The 20% at greater risk are the elderly, like me, and those with underlying immune difficulties related to other ailments.

The bottom line is that, if you listen closely and calmly to the information being shared by our medical professionals, a very small fraction of people who are infected will die. A much larger proportion will have some illness and become immune to the virus. This is corona virus 19. It is the same family of viruses which is responsible for the common cold and other respiratory illnesses which have infected mankind for centuries. It will not be a deadly as the swine flu of years passed. In a few months we will be speaking of "surviving" this pandemic.

It is sad that we will lose members of our families and our friends. But, we will lose more people to automobile accidents.

No Gary, you specifically said this is being hyped by the media for election politics. You failed to answer my questions.

If you listened carefully to the information coming out in the months and weeks leading up to the present, you could reach the conclusion that major disruptions were coming and it would behoove you to be adequately prepared. That meant getting your pantry stocked for a lengthy stay indoors, 401k moved to cash equivalents and all your medical appointments completed before the healthcare system shutdown.

To be clear, SARS-CoV-2 causes the virus, COVID-19 is the name of the disease it causes.

Median Age in USA is 38 years of age, so that means .2% of people would die. 330,000,000 x .2% = 660,000 max if every single person got it.
You are extraordinarily bad at math not to mention I'm calling you out for trying to change the metric you already laid out.

2%, not 0.2%.

You own a Tesla Model 3, thus you should be familiar with Elon's favorite phrase, "order of magnitude". That's how far off you are.

No, the infection rate for those that are younger than 60 is .2%. And again, the reason the number is there is because that is roughly the amount of americans with some sort of underlying health condition that would warrant death from pneumonia. As you get older, it's more likely that your immune system is weaker and you have an illness.

This virus is no different than the flu, only difference is that we don't currently have a vaccine for humans. If you're willing to put in an animal vaccine of the COVID-19, that is readily available.

He didn’t say it was just like the flu, he said there were aspects of its impact that are similar to the flu. That’s undeniably true.

And I’m afraid the hysteria created by some, especially the media, can create issues that will be worse than the virus itself. The unraveling of a society can become very very ugly.

You mean the 32-year old ER Doc in San Francisco?

Exactly correct. Take precautions, especially those with weakened immune systems or elderly, absolutely. Everyone coming into contact with the vulnerable should also take extra precautions. Shutting down the economy for months will be more harmful and for longer than this virus is showing itself to be.

So one case proves a point?
Of course not. However, it is 50% of the two new cases of ER doctors mark360 was deriding as "normally in the 60+ range". There are also two ER doctors in critical condition due to Covid-19, one in his 40s (https://www.acep.org/corona/covid-1...-from-acep-president-william-jaquis-md-facep/).

No, there is no need for hysteria. More importantly, covid-19 is not a joke, a hoax, or part of a political plot. This is a very real, very serious medical condition we need to prepare for, respond to, and respect.

And what was the underlying health conditions of said 40 year old doctor? You forgot to mention the other doctor was 70 years old.

People who have pre-existing conditions or auto immune diseases will die from this virus. This virus is just a flu virus spin off that only has more severity for lack of vaccines.

Simple simple.

This thread has gone off the rails. There is a lot of irresponsible rhetoric being thrown around. It's sad to see this kind of infighting.
