And this is why there must be two fobs given to the early adopter owners. @Ford Motor Company ; this is a HUGE safety issue and ethical issue. If someone is in danger of being chased to their vehicle or attempting to get out of a dangerous situation, this is real and happens. Do better!
Save the pearl clutching. Ford could have given him 10 fobs and it wouldn't have changed the situation one bit.

Problem is that I live in Portland, Oregon, where the chances of getting my car broken into are extremely high. Surely I’m not the only one who lives in a city with rampant car break-ins. Sucks to have to replace a window but it’ll suck a lot more when they open the faraday bag and steal my car too.

You should NEVER leave your key fob in your car under any circumstances. Most high-speed police chase cases I’ve handled involving stolen cars were a direct result of the vehicle owner leaving the fob in the car or leaving the car running, some meth head steals it, and then puts every innocent person on the streets in fatal danger. So no, leaving the fob in the car is not an option.
I have been leaving keys hidden in my vehicles for decades. Managing risk is important of course. There are clever ways to avoid having your vehicle stolen. I don't think a faraday bag is the most secure method. Taking out the battery would be more effective and then hiding the fob somewhere that will take a lot of effort to uncover is a better choice.

I wonder if Ford is using DevSecOps process for software updates. i’m inclined to think maybe not with all these glitches that get released in production. luckily I don't have my MME right now. Hopefully the issues are fixed when it's delivered around May. Reading this is making me second guess the decision to get a MME. Lol... I might have to get a second phone just to test Ford app updates before upgrading the main phone to the latest version.
Still get the MME. It is a great car. I don't really know of very many better choices out there.
It is still very very possible to use the car like a completely normal vehicle even if you don't own a cell phone. Don't let the idea of PaaK working or not working deter you from getting the car you want. Unless of course your main criteria for a vehicle is that it can be controlled by your phone....in that case then yeah, you have a decision to make.

I don't see it in @MachEPilot's post and wanted to confirm. I'm pretty sure that he would try to use it when PAAK didn't work.
I do indeed have a backup code, and was shocked it would not prompt for it.
We trust not using the FOB because the entry code and drive codes *always* work.

Correct. I have 3 fobs. One day I accidentally left home without any of them because I was in a hurry to get on the road for some appointments in Tucson. It so happened that PaaK happened to work flawlessly enough that I didn't even realize the fob wasn't in my pocket and off I went.

It wasn't until midway through my day down in Tucson.....after I had used the car 2 or 3 times and was getting ready to come home that I wasn't able to start the car. Luckily, the door pillar code and start code worked.

So yeah.....having a bunch of fobs is nice but still doesn't help much if we don't carry them with us. :)

I have trouble believing any of this. Surely you would have been raped and murdered if you left home without a fob or two. ??

Sorry, do you mean reset all PaaK keys from the car? What do mean by "do a reset"?
Yes basically in this order:
  1. Remove the phone from PaaK via the phone
  2. Remove the BT connection manually. It's the one that has no name in your list of previously connected BT devices. It should be a MAC address starting with 74.
  3. Go into the car and go to General - Reset - Connected Services Reset - PaaK Reset (going off of my memory might be a little different). This will reset all PaaK connected phones but is necessary to remove the old phone from your profile and I would recommend it based on previous issues when not doing a reset. It should be noted that not everyone took this step and some people had success without taking this step.
  4. Go back to your phone and setup PaaK
  5. Once setup put in your start code again and reconnect to your profile.
Another thing that was missed between the lines is that roadside assistance was of no assistance in this case.
Yup, they said the vehicle was parked at my office in a parking stall and therefore it was safe and not in a dangerous situation. Therefore the FP rep told me that Roadside wouldn't assist with this issue. This is why I provided my case number in this thread so that someone at Ford could see the conversation that I had. It could be that the rep I spoke with was misinformed or incorrect in his assumption that the vehicle had to be in a dangerous situation, but I didn't pursue it further.

The lack of QA is alarming. All software updates should be beta tested.

I think the faraday bag was simply so the car won't act like you left the FOB inside and walked away (although you actually did). Removing the FOB battery would accomplish the same task with an added step. My only risk in leaving the FOB in the car is if the door code ever fails in addition to PaaK at the same time. I have yet to hear of anyone having a problem using their personal door code or factory code. Only having 1 FOB would spell complete disaster for me if all of the backup options failed. Ah well, YOLO ? .

I used to hide a key also. Some are still where I put them decades ago I suspect.

Hiding a second fob with the battery removed isn't a bad idea. As long as you remember to replace the battery every 2 years or so.

I don't think there's a beta channel for the FP app. At least not one that I've seen. It would be a good idea if Ford did that. 100% agree.

I thought we were friends @macchiaz-o ?

I would expect something like this from @GoGoGadgetMachE, but not you!

???
I left out the at-sign intentionally. You weren't supposed to see my post.

J/k I was referring to your namesake not you. You're qualitatively perfect. Quantitatively though, you contain far too many lines of code and your TPS reports are always late.
