Has anyone figured out how to easily create playlists in your USB that will work with SYNC 4? I used mp3tag to create a test playlist, and SYNC 4 recognized it, but when I attempted to play it said "The playlist is corrupt".

Any suggestions?

No I have not figured it out. I just go shuffle all and let it go. Bypass what I do not want to hear. Its all I listen to.

Unfortunate. Still better than paying for a streaming service, I guess.

What does your playlist look like? I see references to using them with sync in general. Maybe a tag is missing or invalid?

I created it within the mp3tag software so everything appeared to be correct. Do I need to change the extension or do something different with the file name?

EDIT: I opened it up with Notepad and this is what it looked like:

I wonder if it is an issue with directories or formatting. Like Nklem, I just let it play thru the specified directory. When it warms back up I will test m3u file formats to see what it does. Hope it isn't a bug in SYNC.

Ok, so I used mp3tag to create a playlist with several of the songs on my usb and it worked fine.
The only setting change I did in mp3tag was disable the APE tags:

Not sure if that would make any difference.
Had the ID3v2 set to UTF-16, not sure if ISO-8859-1 would make any difference.

Haven't played with WMP in a while. If the tags are the same, it should work for creating playlist under sync as well.

This is like a different language to me. I have mp3tag and use it quite a bit. The problem may just boil down to me being dumb. I'll try this and see if it works.

I gave up on using the USB for music directly after a few crashes (sync, not the car)

I now use th usb connector now for my phone. Using Android Auto and musicolet as the music player. It is the best android app for stored music I could find. It just works!

I haven't tried this because I didn't think it would be compatible. Where would the Playlist file be saved?
The Playlist file (can't recall the file extension just now, maybe .lst) gets saved to the device where the music files are located. I mounted the thumb drive on my computer and directed WMP to load all the music files on that device. Then I proceeded to drag the files into the Playlist Box and saved it. I also don't remember where on the drive it gets saved to, but am certain that when mounted on Sync it "caches/mounts the media" and will invoke the playlist content after you select "What's Playing" (or whatever it's called) and choose the playlist(s) it has found.
