Recently sold my Wife’s palisade and got a Premium RWD MME. Made the change for a few reasons. Gas price in Cali is crazy, got great offer on the Palisade, and decent deal on Mach-E(at least for Cali). I’m not new to EVs. Currently drive an Etron and drove the all electric Honda Clarity prior to that. I understand there is inherent risk to driving EVs, which I’m fine with. My E-Troy has been as reliable as a rock going on three years. My concern is having my wife drive around my two boys in a car that, for many people anyways, is just waiting for a horrible fault. Am I overthinking this or are other parents out there concerned as well? I know people with E-Trons have been stranded with battery faults, but nowhere near the volume of the Mach-E.

We have two kids as well. Is your build date after May 2022? (look inside your drivers door on the sticker if you don't remember)

If so, your car has the redesigned junction box from the factory, and reliability shouldn't be a large concern.

I have almost 54k miles and have never been stranded. Lots of annoying software glitches along the way but the car had always started and drove as expected.

I let my kids take the car without any concerns. I think you can let your wife drive it with reasonable confidence. Especially if she uses the fob.

Yes. Build date was August, which does lessen the worry.

Software glitches I expect. Glad to hear you’ve had no issues. My boys are 4 and 2. Not quite ready to get behind the wheel. 😆

I drive my kids around all the time in my MME.

Only Ford knows the actual failure rates of the MME. Don't try to infer a likelihood of failure from the number of posts on this site because this is where people come when they encounter a problem.

Good point.

Built Aug 2022 - you have the revised part then so you have nothing to worry about. No revised parts have failed to our knowledge.

What do you mean not ready? Blue Cruise and a booster seat and they'll be fine.

Good point.
To further support @bshaw point. There are 14+ thousand forum members (globally). Fair to say less than that are active and even less post about issues. There are 93,000 MMEs in the US alone. Not to say that everyone with an issue belongs to and posts to this forum but I think any truly prevalent issues would be captured in the media outside of this forum.

Tires falling off (Toyota) or battery fires (GM) for example.

Plenty of fun, happy issue-free posts here if you look.

24k on a Job 1 car and no issues yet aside from buggy software and a squeaky air circulation fan (parts on order to fix under warranty.) We have two toddlers, and it works! Admittedly, w/ car seats the back is a bit cramped and the interior is, well, constantly dirty. No fault of the car though.

One notable quirk specific to child locks: The mechanism to lock the windows also enables child lock. Sort of annoying for me because I want child lock on always, but I almost never want the windows locked. Alas.

In my opinion, you can't go through life worrying. Drive the car and enjoy it. Also, you may want to change your password. I think it may have snuck into the location field in your profile.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll let my wife know.
