So sorry to hear about the accident. I hope everyone was OK. My wife was in a similar situation back in May... First Edition. Just picked up her tags the day before and was rear-ended. The dealer estimated 6 weeks since the part was on backorder. It took about 8. They repaired everything they could prior to the bumper delivery. Thankfully, not much overall damaged, but the total cost about $2,500. Wasn't till they took the bumper off until the estimate more than doubled. Since the overall damaged was minimal, I didn't pursue a diminished value claim...didn't seem to be worth the headache.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Once it shows up on Carfax you can count on the value going down at least 10%. I had to have a windshield replaced on an MDX that I had. Just a windshield! And they listed it as "Front End Damage". Dealership told me when I started to look at trading it in that the trade-in value was going to be at least 10% less because of how they labeled it. I even tried to get Carfax to remove their tag of "Front End Damage" and they refused. I even had the documentation showing it was just a windshield. They weren't interested in it.

Apparently not, or at least that is what my broker told me. It irrates me that no one seems to be advocating for me, not the insurance company or my insurance broker.
Broker is wrong. Your policy may not cover it but the total cost of a temp vehicle is part of your claim with the at fault driver and their insurance company. Your insurance company should advocate for you.

Yes, I was thinking of doing that. I think the parts are probably only available from Ford, and they go to their biggest dealers. Don't think any of the dealers here fit that bill.
Having had my Mach E repaired from an accident, I can assure you For wanted to get my Mach E back on the road as quickly as possible. You just need to talk to them.

I've seen a number of tweets at Ford from Explorer owners who were waiting months for parts after front end collisions. Not sure if it got them anywhere. Parts delays are not confined to just the MME.

Is the other drivers insurance company the same as your insurance company?

Does your employer provide legal services? If so, they might be able to help you at a diminished cost, in your dealings with the insurance companies.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm retired. The other insurance Co is not the same as mine.

I was rear-ended about 2 weeks ago, and the other driver hit so hard it deployed their airbags. I am really mad and disgusted as one of the parts for my rear bumper is not coming in until Nov 30 and the other Dec 31st.
This is a brand new model, and they are manufacturing them in Mexico. So I get this whole pandemic thing about chips, but this is not about chips, these are parts!
What is Ford doing making cars and not being able to supply chips???
My insurance money for my junky rental will run out long before the car is fixed. It will be depreciated because of the accident when I get it back, as well as they probably will start coming out with the 2022's.
I owned the car for about a month before this happened.
Someone mentioned filing a diminished value claim, how do you do that and with whom do you file it?
Any advice or help would be appreciated.

I don't know if your diminished value question ever got answered (didn't read all the posts). When I was in an accident that was not my fault in a Macan, I had a lawyer friend sue Progressive which was the insurance company of the other party. I got an estimate from the Porsche dealer on a trade in value post accident, compared it to a KBB estimate without the accident, and decided it was worth about 8-9,000 less than without the accident. My lawyer sent the legal mumbo jumbo letter to Progressive, a couple calls later and we settled at $6,000. It all was resolved pretty easily but could not be completed until after my car was fixed and back to me so you may have to wait awhile.

When I traded it in for the Mach E, I don't think they ended up dinging me for the accident. Got more on the trade than KBB suggested I would and more than We Buy Anycar.com offered so I feel like the 6G was a bonus for missing my Macan for 4 months which is how long it took even before all the supply issues and Covid.

When my son was n HS (c.2007) he zigged when he should have zagged and some crushed fenders resulted. Each car drove away. My son went to the police station 2 days later and saw the other driver there doing the same.

.....Our insurance co. totalled the other car (a 12 year old Honda worth squat) plus paid the other guy $32,000.00 in pain management expenses and for pain and suffering. I'm fairly sure the doctor visits ended the day the check cleared.

All to say, if you don't make noise on your own behalf, nobody else will think you need their help.

Yes, that is true. Sounds like your son zagged into a hit a hustler.

Good morning. We would like to see what can be done about getting your parts sent to you sooner. To get started, would you please send over a private message with your VIN?

I just want to add a little to this conversation. This isn't unusual for Ford with new models. Ford's parts warehouses don't have stock piles of parts for a car that has only been out for a few months.

My 2019 Edge I had previously, I bought it about 8 months after it was released. At delivery it had a bad APIM and had to be replaced. I was originally told it was backordered and would take 3 months to arrive. After I agreed to that and they ordered it, it showed up within a week and a half.

I also had someone hit me on the highway in the Edge and required a new rear passenger door to be ordered. That also was on back order and actually didn't even have an ETA, but ended up showing up within 3 days.

This all happened in 2019, well before any chip shortages, or production issues from a pandemic.

I feel like when they tell you a date for something that is back ordered, that is more of a worst case scenario timeline. Obviously, this won't always be the case. But Don't get TOO discouraged when you get told some of these timelines.

This is spot on! You have nobody but yourself representing your interests. If you hire a lawyer, you are buying their advice and their representation of your interests. Keep in mind that that relationship is a transactional one. Your insurance company, the other insurance company, and the repair place are not your friend here.

Please note that this is not a criticism of the legal industry, just my experience of having to sure other drivers/insurance companies twice.
