Well, if you have your door open on the highway, someone is going definitely see the door. Looks bright. I would not personally put them on. What was the need to install them?

I put something similar (but smaller) on mine.

As for the why - increase visibility towards other cars, esp. if you have to take the kids out from the backseat in winter when its often dark.

Nothing special, just reflective tape.
Put some short pieces along the edge of the door.

Great idea. A small white strip on the lower edge would not be noticed--but may really be useful at night. Good job!
