There is a big difference between driving in 45 degree weather and arriving at a charger with a 45 degree battery, and starting out with a 12 degree battery and arriving at a charger with the battery at 20 degrees.
Perhaps you should move. I hear Florida is nice.

Not enough money in the world to move to Floriduh. In fact, my son and his family are moving out of there this summer. Nice place to visit for a few days.

:) Yea I had to live in Orlando for six months when I was in the Navy and that was six months too many.

No it was a smart dock. Used a similar one today. Navigating to it activated the preconditioning.
Correct. Magic Dock locations, which are few, have always worked.

Sort of like Little Rock in that regard. The longest decade of my life was the year I spent in Little Rock. ;)

@Ford Motor Company : Why would I pay for this service? After 2 full years of access to the Tesla network and almost 3 years since the announcement it was coming, Ford Connected Navigation still won't route me to Tesla Superchargers. That is roughly half the available DCFC locations in the country and the only way to make some routes work.
Ditto. I’m not mad, just disappointed.

I’ve said it many times here. I’m not against subscriptions, if the value to cost ratio is there. Subscriptions are unlike other purchases because they have to earn their value after initial purchase.

That is:

In a 2024, I’m not mad that my heated seats didn’t get updated to cooled seats in 2025. I’m not subscribing to my seats. My seats don’t need to improve to earn their value.

A subscription is different because it’s a service. It costs money to maintain a set of databases for charging. It costs money to adapt the software to changing circumstances (like opening up the Supercharger system). Because @Ford Motor Company is coming back with a palm open to get me to resubscribe, I get to ask what they’ve done for me lately.

I have a feeling that the culture of Ford isn’t supportive of subscriptions. I will give Ford credit for allowing me to purchase another provider’s subscription for navigation. (Apple, Google)

I use ACP exclusively. Reasonably happy in my little Apple ecosystem. The instances of audio dropout seem to have reduced dramatically in the last few months, too!

LOL no I would never pay for Ford “connected services.” Preconditioning might come in handy a few times each winter, but I don’t really give it a second thought. Ford is NEVER going to seriously compete with Apple, so hopefully they continue to support ACP.

There’s no Ford software offering worth paying for. Not even BlueCruise, and I use that practically every day. Well, I might pay $100 for another year or something like that, but definitely not the rack rate they’re currently asking.

In 2019 I drove my Ford Focus Electric 300 miles to purchase my I-Pace. I used Plugshare on my Andriod phone to charge ~ every 50 miles(23kw battery in the Focus). I still use Plugshare for free to find info about charging stations. I have signed up with a number of charging companies to bill my credit card to charge up on their respective chargers. This is the same as a gas car.

Car is new to me - is there no way to manually activate preconditioning?
No. We have been asking for a manual precondition button since the first 2021 was delivered. So far... Nada. Maybe Soon™. 🤷‍♂️🐩
