Thinking of renting out my Ioniq 5 on turo for the first time while on vacation. Anyone tried this yet? What was your experience?

Have a guy that rents Tesla 3s in Destin, does pretty well. Pays his car note.

This is a MachE enthusiast site. Personally, I have no interest in renting out that which I am an enthusiast of (cars, women, etc.).

Sounds like a good way to get your car beat up, JMHO.

I've used Turo to rent cars but not to rent out my own.

On one vacation I Turo'd a Bolt to see how it drove and how the seats were (read a lot of bad things about the front seats in the Bolt) prior to leasing one--seats were fine.

It did feel like I was driving someone's car and not a rental: Still had their stuff in the back and the cubby below the armrest.

The Bolt we rented from Turo:

As far as Turo'ing a car I owned. I think I would only do it if I specifically purchased that car to Turo it. I wouldn't Turo one of my daily drivers.

Dude Iā€™ve heard horror stories of people running them completely dead and leaving them on the side of the road. Or trying to race their buddies with your car and ending up crashing. Your insurance wonā€™t pay and Turo will be a stick in the mud when it comes to covering damage.

some people rent interesting cars for fun rather than a regular car from hertz.

good point takes a long time to get replacement parts now even if damages are covered. though some people run it as a business now seeing how expensive car rentals now a days

I absolutely get that from the renter perspective. It's the owners renting their cars out who I don't understand, but I am attached to my MachE (it's why I'm here) vs. someone who just views it as an appliance (the person more likely to rent-out their car).

I wish someone around me would put theirs up. The dealer lots around me never have any, and I'd love to rent one for a couple days just to get a "real" feel for it.

From my perspective: Not just ā€œno,ā€ but ā€œheck no!ā€ Bad enough my car got sticky fingerprints all over the passenger seat and door panel at an Earth Day show. Ainā€™t anyone taking my car for a joy ride. šŸ˜±šŸ¤ŖšŸ©

How does insurance work here? If I use my car for DoorDash or Uber (or Turo, I think) and it gets into an accident, my insurance company wonā€™t pay out for my damage OR the other driverā€™s. This feels like a huge risk; does Turo agree to cover insurance for all parties?

Just ask Jeremy Clarkson about the fastest car in the world (it's a rental) and you'll re-think renting out your MME to any random.
