Went to the garage this morning only to find I had a flat. I found a large lag screw stuck in the inside side wall. Called discount tire only to be told the tire we all have doesn't exist. Called Ford dealer and he said he had one. Asked if the load ratting was 103 H, no its not. His computer indicated they back ordered but unlikely he would receive any for wks as back orders were not beening filled in a timely manner. He said he checked and there were none on the west coast. He said he check other parts of the country and call back
He located 1 tire in Las Vegas and it would be here Thurs or Friday. Who would of thought a flat could park your car for wks. Take care of those tires people. ? ?

If there is still is a shortage in June, I may have four low milage OEM MME tires available at reasonable cost / used price.

I am doing the @markboris summer Signature wheel (@50 Deep) tire mod, but unfortunately my new Signature wheels are probably still a month out. Later, I plan to put Michelin X-ice 3 on the OEM rims for winter.

The new tires for Mark's mod are a similar story. My local installer / tire shop said Mark's spec'd tires are 6 month backordered (Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV, 255/45/20 front, 295/40/20 rear). Fortunately, TireRack had 6 remaining in their national stock, and I got two of them.

[Update May 17, 2021] - The Michelin X-ice SUV (probably no X-ice3 for MME) might not be available until August. I got my new 255 fronts from TireRack, but they had to look for two 295s, now a week or so out, but still in plenty of time for the new wheels, probably still a month out].

There isn't just a semiconductor chip shortage... there is a rubber shortage, too. And of course the chicken wing shortage and the southeast US gasoline shortage, and the ....
If anyone wants to know why there's a shortage of everything and why prices are climbing for everything, here's a quick 5min explanation from WSJ. Please note that the 40' container prices quoted are out of date. Last number I saw was about $10k.

I was worried about this happen as it is seems to be a rare load rating for these tires so they just are not making them.

The good news is with EV being more common high load rating tires are going to be become more common.

This is not the thread I wanted to find when I searched for info on a replacement tire after finding a nail in mine...
I got my tire from Vagas today after waiting 5 days. I also kept looking during that 5 day period and located 8 tires at tire rack @ $250 ea. But that's all I could find.

There is still a shortage!

I had my MME less than two months. I was heading to work this morning westbound when I drove across some broken up plasterboard in the road. I did not think anything of it until I got a low tire pressure warning for the passenger side rear tire when I was close to work. The pressure kept dropping, but I made it to work. I let the tire cool and looked at it during lunch. I was able to reinflate it but noticed bulges on the side of the tire.

I tried a local big tire chain that had a store nearby, but they can not get the 103H tire. I called Ford Service and they were great. A tow company showed up with a flatbed and took the car to the nearest Ford dealer.

The call from the dealer was not good. The guy said the tire was not available from Ford, but they managed to find one. They may get it either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. When I mentioned a loaner car, I was directed to local car rental places. Fortunately I was able to get help from a friend and I am all set.

To top it off, I look at the Tire Rack website and see they had seven in stock! It would not be delivered until Wednesday or Thursday. I am not happy to wait four to five days for a tire, but it is better than six to seven days.

Since I was quoted a price by the dealer for the tire and labor, I assume there is no road hazard warranty with these tires? It appears the Ford warranty does not cover road hazard and I did not see any other documentation about a tire warranty. I went over four years with my Fusion Hybrid before I needed to replace a tire due to a flat, so I may have refused it.

You would think Ford would make sure dealers have stock on a "consumable" before a third-party website.. Getting a rim and a tire from Tire Rack in the future looks very attractive.

The Ford dealer got the tire today and got it installed before the service department closed. I picked up the car and drove home. It looks good.

One interesting thing with Fordpass and my "connected" MME. I knew when they were working on the car as the information updated. It also retriggered a low tire pressure alert. A short time later the pressure of the right rear tire read normal. Then I got the phone call that the car was done.

Glad it worked out semi ok. I’m genuinely not looking forward to experiencing this out in the middle of the east central Pacific Ocean.
