Exactly... You do not need to read ONE COMMENT they have at the end - "it's a not a Mustang" Like anybody cares...

Verdict

I talked with a couple of EV owners during my expedition to the one Chargepoint level 3 charger in Indy, and they were all genuinely impressed with the Mach-E. In fact, two Chevy Bolt EV owners and one BMW i3 said that their next EV was originally going to be a Tesla Model 3, but now they're considering the Ford instead.

And that's exactly the point of this highly unconventional Mustang. It's designed to get people's attention and draw in a new generation of buyers to the Blue Oval. I can promise you that Dearborn wouldn't have accomplished that by giving the Mach-E a new name that no one had ever heard of before. Whether you consider that sacrilegious or not, I honestly don't care, and it ultimately doesn't matter.

The Mach-E is an honest-to-goodness electric performance crossover that's enough run-of-the-mill Ford to make its driver feel at ease, but has enough of a holy-shit-this-is-cool factor to make you feel giddy. It doesn't feel gimmicky like a Tesla and it always aims to please. I know this because my wife absolutely loved it, and she hardly cares to say anything about the dozens of cars I drive every year. The fact that she actually went on the Ford online configurator and built her own Mach-E says it all—at least it does to me.

This thing looks cool, it's a blast to drive, and on a rally-spec road it'll put a bigger smile on your face than a 600-horsepower supercar will. If Ford can do this good with its first electric car, then whatever comes next is going to be something that every automaker should be very afraid of.

I will say it mattered to me a great deal it was named a Mustang. I would not have bought mine without the name. I added to my stable.

I wouldn't be getting this car if it wasn't a Mustang. I probably would have ended up with a Tesla Y. I really hate when people claim this isn't a Mustang. What's the definition? A quick, fast, sports car? To me, this is more of a Mustang than the ones with 4 cylinders.

Quite a few years back I drove a Falcon. It was a 4 door family car. Nice sideways drift and quick. They took the same chassis and turned it in to a Mustang. So in my parallel universe I've already owned a four door Mustang.
Read the comments in the article - not too toxic and at least its keeping the Mustang in the limelight. Who's getting heated over the Tesla these days?

It may matter to some, but I've owned four Mustang GT's, three new and one used. I'm a Mustang person but I've really embraced the MachE to my Mustang family and it appears by the pics on here, so have a lot of others. Now if the Probe would have replaced the Mustang, yeah, the brand would've been dead by now. (not that the Probe was bad)

Someone said to me, "It doesn't look like a Mustang" so I told them "yeah but it sure handles like one" then jumped in and dropped a nice sideways drift as I left. It sure has the mustang feel.
