Rivian has announced its own charging DC charging network. My guess is the charge stations will be located near "adventure areas" such a national parks, skiing areas, etc.. Also J1772 11kW chargers which will be open to the public.

Proprietary charging networks don't make sense for most manufacturers. However, Rivian is focused on outdoor adventure and a lot of the areas its customers will want to go to aren't likely to be prime spots for DC charging currently, so you can see the logic in its case.
