I agree with the author about too much ambient noise, living less than 500 feet from a superhighway, and getting molested every morning by traffic noise and blaring truck horns. I dreamed of crossing an intersection on foot in complete silence with absolutely no engine noise at all coming from the vehicles waiting at the intersection for the traffic light to change. Only hybrids and electrics can fulfill that dream.

Only the sound of cooling fans. ? I also eagerly await the quieting. Even 5 years from now it should be a lot better.

If only they could calm down the backup audible warning. It's out of control.

There have been other complaints about that. I haven't heard it from outside the vehicle. I don't even notice it when I'm driving.

That is one of the first things I am going to "fix" when my MME arrives. My plan is to install a potentiometer and use it like a volume control on the speaker. Most of the time it will be turned down, but if I think it is needed, I will turn it up. Easy, peasy. I want my MME to be silent, like it should be. No fake sounds.

If you search the forum there are threads with other solutions including muffling the speaker with cardboard. Disconnecting it causes an error on the dash, so others have replaced the speaker with a 4 watt resistor. I like being able to control the volume instead of permanently turning it off or muffling it.
