I just had the underside of my MME FE rustproofing with Krown film. I did not let them drill any holes in the doors or frame. Just wanted the suspension and underside to be protected. See pictures.

I live in Ontario Canada. They use a lot of salt on roads in winter. It has worked on my previous cars.
Is it safe to do with evā€™s. I am
Planning to get this done on my MME as well?

Total waste of money in my opinion. A lot of the vehicle is aluminum.

Yes, safe on EV's. There are plenty of steel parts as you can see in my pics I shared showing the underside when protective covers are removed. For under $100 each year, it will make care last longer and it will be easier to service brakes, suspension etc...

I can't speak for Krown but I know Fluid Film is non-conductive and can used as a dialectric coating. They even advertise that it can be sprayed inside electrical panels. Woolwax is basically the same thing.

I've done several previous cars with fluid film and I think the primary purpose here is to spot apply bolts. That's a DIY job IMO with just the spray cans....I wouldn't pay a professional to do this car.

The only AL components are the Battery framework, motor cradles, some of the suspension arms, hood and front fenders. The hatch is plastic. The rest is all steel. All frame, doors, rockers, floors, underside frame rails, rear quarters, etc. In salt areas it is necessary today or in 5-6 years you will have rust bubbles and in 7-10 replacing all brake lines, etc. The liquid salt they use is terrible.

I went up to Toronto recently and I noticed nearly half the cars had no hubcaps. When I asked about it my friend said it's b/c they typically rust off in the salt if you don't give them proper maintenance.

Where did you get this done? I live in the rust belt myself and I'm very interested in prolonging the life of the steel components of my car.

I have never has a hubcap rust here in Ontario near Toronto and I have driven 15 cars more than 2 000 000 km in my lifetime.. But all my cars, until the MME, had no hubcaps in winter because my winter tires went on cheap steel wheels for the four months of salted roads. The road wheels were kept indoors and went back on in March or April. My MME has winter wheels so that my summer wheels, stored indoors for the salt season, still look like new today. I just got them back on 4 weeks ago

I think your buddy was shining you on. See the above reply from TTF re: winter steelies.
