Agreed. The original notification was published maybe 48 hours ago? Now we have additional information on a mitigation step (which is coming soon) and I feel fairly confident that more and more info will come out over the next few days and weeks re hardware interventions.

I would think temperature is less useful than measuring resistance across the HV contactor (which I bet is much easier to do with all the existing monitoring equipment) which may be a sign of pitting/conductor damage and impending failure. Increased resistance? You get queued up for a new HVBJB. Normal? Carry on, nothing to see.
Yep, this is exactly what I expect.

Those odds still aren’t bad
In 200 years they are! No; it's really likely a non-issue for non lead foot drivers (most people). But means everyone is slowly being effected. The software solution will attempt to control that aspect I guess.

We really can't say at this point. It could be a software issue that unintentionally pushes the hardware beyond its published limits. Fix the software issue, and you're fine. We don't know yet.
The one thing the forum community has gathered is plenty of previous data on charge curves and enough time slip, draggy runs etc for vehicle performance so we will easily be able to do a before and after fix comparison to see what impact the fix has had.

It will be great if it is simply down to some incorrect calculation letting parts exceeded specified limits, however Ford have a poor history of having parts being chosen more by accounts than engineers :( so lets hope it does not turn out to be an intentional throttling band aid to compensate for parts not fit for purpose in an attempt to avoid costly repairs and limit it to only using a revised part for earlier vehicles to that fail further down the line.

Your VIN search has told you nothing. Yesterday the only place it showed was ETIS. You need to wait for the FordPass app to show you that you have a recall, also on Ford.com.
Yes, I rather assumed this issue is too new for a VIN search to be reliable but at least no OTHER recalls showed up. And like I said, I'll feel better once the fix is out.

Either way, more limits on power. Maybe 2023-24 will have a redesign of the issue in question. Clearly some other brands also have a power limit such as the Hyudai/Kia/Genesis "boost" button, which in effect does what the GT 5 sec thing does, but maybe for a little bit longer. On the other hand, I don't think Tesla or some other EV's have had this limitation yet. So we'll see..

in other news today, ouch . . Ford is recalling more than 2.9 million vehicles due to rollaway concerns. And that's a hardware dealer fix!

I checked my VIN and it wasn't listed for a recall. Is that because it's not up to date or doesn't effect every MME? Seems like it should be an issue for everyone.

Hi. So, I was planning on taking my Mach-E Premium AWD to Florida from Cleveland this weekend--driving it around down there for two weeks, then driving it back home. That means a lot of DCFC and highway miles in the middle of summer.

I also don't have an alternative vehicle that would for work this trip, and renting an EV (because I don't want to drive an ICE if I don't have to) would cost me $3,000 freaking dollars.

Honest question: how worried should I be about making the trip? I'm splitting the driving down there and back into two days, with a slow, overnight charge when we stop for the night each way. But still, that's 7 DCFC stops on the way down (across two days) and 8 on the way back (across two days).

Edit: I have a Job 2 2021 MME, and the charging curve update, to my knowledge, has not been applied (so I drop to Slow Town after 80%).
you have a 99.5% chance of being perfectly fine.

Sorry to say : next software update is going to be a loss of power ! Reducing the amps and voltage to lessen the chance of some component meltdowns. If removing the battery pack is part of the recall for some 100,000 MME it would not surprise me if it took a year or so. The MME just fell into a large stink hole along with FORD !!! Don't get me wrong, I love my MME its 13 months old, 18,000 miles and never been in the shop. YET !!! Better knock on wood !!
Sorry to say, but you're speculating and don't have a clue. There is already further information that the software monitors for the condition before doing anything. Given that it has only happened to .5% of the cars over their lifespan then you could expect to see a power reduction less than .5% of the time.

You're whipping yourself and everyone else into a frenzy based on your imagination

If they do that, they better be prepared to buy back some vehicles. Im going to be in that line quickly followed buy the line for a new EV6GT.
AGAIN, YOU'RE WHIPPING YOURSELF INTO A FRENZY OVER WHAT YOU GUESS WILL HAPPEN

Just curious if anyone who has had this issue can confirm that they have a lead foot and/or have DCFC prior to receiving the error message.

Glad to hear there were no injuries

I was just about to say...if this software fix has already been implemented at the plant...then why is it not pushed out to all vehicles via FDRS right now as a pending software update?

OTAs are one thing (scheduling and getting them in some sort of sequence to be delivered, etc.) but why would these two not be immediately available as module updates shown in the SW Updates list in FDRS for all affected MMEs?

Why are we waiting until July?

It's either critical...or it's not really....kinda, well maybe sorta.
It may be there? This member mentioned that updates for the affected modules were posted on May 24. Cars built after May 25 are not impacted. Unclear if it's the software update that solves this recall.

Yeah, it's crazy how some people go immediately into panic mode. I can almost see them standing in the middle of the room with fists clenched, stomping their feet. Oh, wait, that's my 3 year old grandson. Or maybe it was them? Can't tell the difference.

- Glad it's software and not hardware.
Actually disappointed. Hardware fix should be the proper fix, but too costly, and if the new part is not same physical dimensions, could be really costly. Software fix is workaround, likely lowering the current - slower charging and/or slower acceleration. I sure hope they have some more creative changes that don't affect charging and performance.
