Has anyone had their seat material start to break up? Just noticed yesterday that mine is starting to crack around the ventilations. Hopefully it won't be an issue under warranty.

Not having that issue, but it’s just a reminder why I hate fake leather.

All vinyl eventually cracks. Leather? Not so much.

I wish they would offer real leather seats. “Vegan leather” in electric cars is silly. Especially if you’re trying to sell them to everyone. The rest of the car isn’t “vegan” anyways. In fact, no car is vegan.

Yeah fake leather is always junk it really annoys me that its our only option

offer real leather and 'vegan' at the same cost and option level and run the numbers...

Its ESG point nonsense and feelgoodism

It should not be an issue.

That’s disappointing. Definitely looks like warranty to me.
Just curious where exactly is that?

It's on the side bolster of the drivers seat cushion.

I'm working my way up to calling the dealer. It's an ordeal to chase the one guy down who can schedule any electric service.

Honestly it probably won’t be covered by warranty.

My hate for vinyl was just reinforced the last couple years.

Bought an Ashley Furniture set that “covers everything with the 5 year warranty” according to the salesperson.

I read the fine print and it doesn’t cover “cracking or peeling.”

And guess what my 3 year old couches are doing…….

Real leather cracks too. My last car (Fusion) had cracks all over the drivers seat by the time I sold it.

the leather on my old 95 GT convertible, which was the nicest leather I've ever seen in any car (seriously), cracked over time too.

but this is stupidly short timing on the cracking. it absolutely should be warrantied work but it's not good to see this soon.

on Lightning forums there's been talk of early leather wrinkling and issues on those too, and some of those are substantially more expensive than our Mach-Es. 🙁

here's hoping this is relatively isolated.

Eh , I know it’s too late but my experience is that both leather and vinyl copies can crack, especially in Arizona, especially with heat especially with use there is one way to lessen the effects

For real leather, go to griots garage and get their deep leather conditioner. If you use it on your leather seats monthly they’ll always be supple and It will show a patina, which indicates stretching rather than cracking, which is good, but they will never crack it moisturizes them.

For the fake leather products use what I show pictured which is available on Amazon. It’s fantastic. It also keeps the leather supple. Smells nice

Jes sayin. Your keister will thank me as it slides across the e pony saddle

Sorry to see that. It’s interesting to me that so many people have had better results with real leather. My experience is that real leather cracks and tears in a few years while synthetic leather can stay in great condition for much longer. Leather BMW seats seemed to go to crap pretty quickly while those in my Subaru held up perfectly for 5+ years despite some fair abuse. I was optimistic of the durability of the Mach E seats but your situation is a real bummer.

I've always had good luck with real leather using Leather Honey. I'll have to look into fake leather conditioner. Thanks for that suggestion.

And yes, I was also burned by Ashley and their fake leather crap. They adhere a leather surface to vinyl and it all just flakes off. Glad to have gotten rid of that garbage a few years ago.
